Lieutenant-Colonel George Edward Vere-Laurie, who died 22 May, 2023, aged 87, was a scion of that landed gentry family, of Carlton Hall, Nottinghamshire. He was born 3 September, 1935, son of Lt-Col. George Haliburton Foster Peel Vere-Laurie (1906-1981), and his wife the former Caroline Judith Francklin (1908-1987), scion of that landed gentry family; he served as High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire 1991-92; and married 1stly, 2 June, 1962 (div 1977), Georgina Nerfert Riall (1942-2018), daughter of Maj. Anthony Claud Riall (d 21 Dec, 2005); married 2ndly, Ann ____. He had issue from his first marriage, a son George Anthony (1963-2019), and a daughter, Georgina Sylvia (born 25 June, 1965).
