The engagement was announced 31 January, 2019, between Patrick Gordon Tobias Boyle (born 1991), scion of the Earls of Cork & Orrery, son of Robert Edmund John Boyle (b 28 Sept, 1954), of Bisbrooke, Rutland, by his wife the former Gabrielle Georgiana Telfer Smollett (b 7 July, 1960), scion of that landed gentry family, and Rosie Plumridge, daughter of Mr Stewart Plumridge, of Bolter End, Buckinghamshire, and Mrs Jacqueline Plumridge, of Lewknor, Oxfordshire.

Patrick Boyle is a descendant of the 8th Earl of Cork.

_. Fitzroy Douglas Boscawen Somerset, who has died aged 95, was a scion of the Dukes of Beaufort.

He was born 19 November, 1923, son of William Horace Boscawen Somerset (1880-1946) by his wife the former Rubie Drummond-Nairne Warner (1886-1977); married 1962, Sheila Jean Wilson (d 2016), by whom he had issue, a son and a daughter.

Maria-Felicitas Gräfin von Schönburg-Glauchau, who died 29 January, 2019, aged 60, was descended from Topham Beauclerk (1730-80), scion of the Dukes of St Albans (descended from King Charles II) by his wife Lady Diana Spencer (d 1808), scion of the Dukes of Marlborough, daughter of the 3rd Duke of Marlborough.

Ida Catherine Alison Greenall (born 2019)

_. Anna Mary Greenall (nee Hesketh, b0rn 1991), wife of the Hon Jonathan James (Jake) Greenall (born 13 April, 1992), the jockey, scion of the Barons Daresbury, gave birth to a daughter, Ida Catherine Alison, 24 January, 2019.

Jake Greenall is the youngest son of the 4th Baron Daresbury (born 1953), of Malpas, Cheshire, by his wife the former Clare Weatherby.

Anna Greenall, also a jockey, is the twin daughter of the late Robert Fleetwood Hesketh (1956-2004), by his wife the former Hon Catherine Ingrid Guinness (b 1952), scion of the Barons Moyne, daughter of the 3rd Baron by his first marriage to the former Ingrid Wyndham, scion of the Barons Egremont.

Sir Nicolas John Charles Boord, 4th Baronet 1936-2019

_. Sir Nicolas Boord, 4th Baronet, died in France, 7 January, 2019. He was 82.

Nicolas John Charles Boord was born 10 June, 1936, son of Sir Richard Boord, 3rd Baronet (1907-75), by his wife the former Yvonne Swingler Bird (who died in 1991); succeeded to the baronetcy upon his father's death, 12 December, 1975; married firstly, 29 Apr, 1960 (divorced 1965), Francoise Tempra, daughter of Giuseppe Tempra; married secondly, 9 Dec, 1965, Françoise Renée Louise Mouret, daughter of Marcel Mouret.

The baronetcy now passes to his nephew, Andrew Richard Boord, who was born in 1962.

Diana Athill, OBE 1917-2019

_. Diana Athill, OBE, one of book publishing's great editors, and a writer who enjoyed enormous literary success, scion of the Carrs of Ditchingham, has died aged 101.

She was born 21 December, 1917, daughter of Maj Lawrence Athill by his wife the former Alice Catharine Carr, and was a granddaughter of William Carr (1862-1925), of Ditchingham Hall, co Norfolk.

During her 40-year partnership with André Deutsch, Diana Athill helped promote the careers of writers like Jean Rhys, V S Naipaul, Brian Moore, John Updike, Philip Roth, Norman Mailer and Margaret Atwood. She encouraged her authors to “try to write the truth, however indecent”, a precept she adopted herself in a series of autobiographical memoirs.

Joseph Guy Lubbock 1915-2019

_. Joseph Guy Lubbock, artist and author, who died 22 January, 2019, aged 103, was a scion of the Barons Avebury.

He was born 20 May, 1915, the son of Brigadier-General Guy Lubbock (1870-1956), by his wife the former Lettice Isabella Mason (died 1980). He was a great-grandson of Sir John Lubbock, 3rd Baronet (1803-65).

He married 28 Apr, 1941, Ruth Cecilia Gurney (deceased), scion of that landed family and descended from the Ruggles-Brise baronets, by whom he had issue. At his death he left 24 descendants.

Ethne Mary Hubbard (née Pelham Clinton) 1923-2019

_. Ethne Mary Hubbard, who died 20 January, 2019, aged 95, was a scion of the extinct Dukes of Newcastle-under-Lyne.

She was born in 1923, a daughter of Henry Charles Frederick Pelham-Clinton (1892-1968), by his wife the former Dorothy Charlotte Middleton Carlon (1898-1969), and married 1951, Jasper Picton Hubbard (1923-2010), scion of the Barons Addington, son of Eric Wyndham Hubbard (1885-1946), by his wife the former Edith Sylvia Morris (1887-1977), by whom she had two sons and a daughter.

Henri, Count of Paris 1933-2019

_. Henri, Count of Paris, Duke of France, Orleanist pretender to the French throne, as Henri VII, died 21 January, 2019. He was 85.

Henri Philippe Pierre Marie d'Orleans was born in Belgium, 14 June, 1933, son of Henri, Count of Paris (1908-99), by his wife Princess Isabelle of Orleans-Braganza (d 5 July, 2003), scion of the Royal House who reigned briefly in Brazil; married firstly 5 July, 1957 (div 1984), Marie Therese of Wurttemberg (b 12 Nov, 1934), fourth daughter of Philipp, Duke of Wurttemberg, head of that Royal House, by whom he had issue, five children; married secondly, 31 Oct, 1984, Micaela Anna Maria Cousiño y Quiñones de León (b 30 Apr, 1938).

The Count of Paris was known as the Count of Clermont in his father's lifetime.

The headship of the Royal House of Orleans now passes to his eldest son Prince Jean d'Orléans of France, The Duke of Vendome, who was born in 1965.

_.Amelia F.A. de Rougemont (nee Roberts), wife of Frederick C. de Rougemont, gave birth to a daughter, Mary Araminta Rose, 18 January, 2019.

Freddie de Rougemont is the elder son of Mr &Mrs Clive de Rougemont.

Amelia de Rougemont is the elder daughter of Sir Hugh Ashley Roberts, Knt, of Windsor, by his wife the former Hon Priscilla Jane Stephanie Low, MVO (b 1949), sometime Curator of thevPrint Room, Royal Library, Windsor Castle, daugher of the 1st Baron Aldington, KCMG, CBE (b 25 May 1914; d 7 Dec 2000).

Freddie and Amelia married at St George's Chapel, Windsor, in February, 2010.
Sir Hugh Roberts' father was the Rt Rev Edward James Keymer Roberts, sometime Bishop of Ely. Sir Hugh's mother, Dorothy Frances dau of Rev Canon Edwin David Bowser, was the Bishop's first wife and died in 1982. The Bishop married 2ndly in 1984 Diana, widow of Dr Arthur Christopher Grey (scion of the Earls Grey) and, before that, widow of Anthony Seymour Bellville (of the LG family of Bellville of Tedstone Court). She was dau of Ewen Cameron Bruce (of the LG family Bruce of Blaen-y-Cwm).
