HRH Princess Irene of Greece & Denmark died in Madrid, 15 January, 2026, aged 83.
Princess Irene was the youngest child of Paul I, King of the Hellenes (1901-1964), a sister of Constantine II, King of the Hellenes (1940-2023), and sister of HM Queen Sofia of Spain (born 2 Nov, 1938), and was aunt of Spain's King Felipe, and a second cousin of King Charles III and of the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.
She was born in exile in South Africa, 11 May, 1942, daughter of the future King Paul and his wife Princess Frederica of Hanover (1917-1981). She was unmarried.
