Arthur Charles Mole died 8 January, 2026, aged 99.
He was born at Chertsey, Surrey, in April, 1926, son of Sir Charles Johns Mole, KCB, MVO (1886-1962), the architect who served in the Ministry of Works, eventually becoming its Director-General, by his wife the former Annie Eliza Martin (1883-1962); and married 7 September, 1957, the Hon Susan Mary Hinton (1932-2014), daughter of the life peer the Baron Hinton of Bankside, OM, KBE, FRS (1901-1983), the nuclear engineer, and supervisor of the construction of Calder Hall, the first large-scale nuclear power station in the West.
Arthur Mole leaves two sons, Christopher (born 4 Nov, 1960), and Richard (born 6 Feb, 1966).
