Edward John Ivo Stourton, who died 18 July, 2026, aged 68, was a broadcaster, a long standing BBC newscaster, and a scion of the Barons Mowbray, Segrave & Stourton.
He presented the Today programme for 10 years.
He later joined the teams of The World at One and The World This Weekend.
Early in his career he was a founder of Channel 4 News, the Paris correspondent for the BBC, and a presenter of the BBC One O’clock News.
He made numerous current affairs programmes for Radio 4.
Stourton was the author of eight books, most recently Confessions (2023).
He was born 24 November, 1957, son of Nigel John Ivo Stourton, CBE (1929-2021), and his wife the former Rosemary Jennifer Rushworth Abbott (born 1941), and educated at Ampleforth & Trinity College, Cambridge.
He married twice, firstly, 5 July, 1980 (Div 2001) Margaret McEwen, daughter of Sir James McEwen, 2nd Baronet, and married 2ndly, 8 November, 2002, Mrs Fiona Margaret Murch, daughter of John Edward King, of Llandaff, Cardiff.
He leaves issue from his first marriage, two sons and a daughter.
