Richard Charles Lascelles Carr died 11 August, 2025, aged 87.
Carr was a director and board member of Arsenal Football Club, and he held close to five per cent of Arsenal’s shares until May 2008.
He was born 22 July, 1938, the second son of Flight Lieutenant Harry Lascelles Carr (1907-1943), and his wife the former Eileen Mary Smith (1911-1992), daughter of Sir Bracewell Smith, 1st Baronet (1884-1966).
He married 11 June, 1960, Edda Armbrust, by whom he had one daughter, Sue Lascelles Carr, the life peer Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, PC, KC (born 1 September, 1964), the Lady Chief Justice of England & Wales.
He was a grandson of the journalist Sir Emsley Carr (1867-1941), sometime editor of the Western Mail and the News of the World.
