Jonathan James Palmes, who died 5 August, 2025, aged 92, was a scion of that landed family of Naburn, Yorks.
He served in the 8th Royal Tank Regiment, and was sometime of Long Sutton, Basingstoke.
He was born 21 January, 1933, the second son of James Arthur Palmes (1901-1972), of Chagford, co Devon, by his wife the former Marian Elizabeth Walters (1906-1983); and married 28 June, 1958, Rosemary Hunter, daughter of Robert Stuart Hunter, of Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, by whom he had issue, two sons, Howard (b 30 March, 1959), and James (b 1968), and two daughters, Nicola (b 14 July, 1961) and Annabel (b 1966).
