Sir John Gurdon, FRS, who died 7 October, 2025, aged 92, was a Nobel prize winning biologist, Chairman, Company of Biologists, Cambridge, Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge 1995-2002, and scion of that landed gentry family.
He was born 2 October, 1933, son of William Nathaniel Gurdon (1890-1977), by his wife the former Elsie Marjorie Byass (1900-1963); and married in 1964, Jean Elizabeth Margaret Curtis, by whom he had a son, William John, and a daughter, (Elizabeth) Aurea.
