Meriel Rose Afia, CVO, Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, died 8 October, 2025, aged 85.
She was born in 1940, daughter of Capt Joseph Gurney Fowell Buxton (1913-1943), and his wife the former Elizabeth Barbour; and married 1stly, Robert Ivan Kenyon-Slaney (1926-1984), scion of the Barons Kenyon, son of Maj Robert Orlando Rodolph Kenyon-Slaney (1892-1965), and his 1st wife Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia Hamilton (1896-1984), daughter of the 3rd Duke of Abercorn, KG (1869-1953); married 2ndly, 1985, Peter Maurice Afia (born 1938), and leaves issue from her 1st marriage, two sons, Rupert & Tom, and a daughter, Natasha-
