Amanda Mildred Ward [nee Vincent] 1942-2022

 Amanda Mildred Ward, who died suddenly in Scotland, 15 July, 2022, aged 79, was a scion of the Vincent baronets, a granddaughter of a Lord Mayor of London.

Mrs Ward was the second wife, and widow, of Gerald Ward, scion of the Earls of Dudley, who led a varied life as a soldier, banker, businessman, farmer on his Berkshire estate, supporter of many charities and intrepid sportsman; he was also a close friend of the Prince of Wales, serving as an Extra Equerry from 1987, working for the Prince's Trust from 1990 to 2001, and he stood as a godfather to the Duke of Sussex.

She was born Amanda Mildred Vincent, 22 November, 1942, daughter of Sir Lacey Eric Vincent, 2nd Baronet [1902-63], and his wife the former Helen Millicent Robertson [1905-2000].

She married firstly, 5 December, 1961, as his first wife, Capt [John] Barry Henry Dinan [born 1939], of the Irish Guards, son of Capt Dermot Anthony Dinan, Irish Guards, of Kensington, by his wife the former Pamela Joan Kennedy [1916-94]; she married 2ndly, in 1984, Capt Gerald John Ward, CBE [1938-2008], lof the Royal Horse Guards, of Chilton Park Farm, Hungerford, Berkshire, son of Colonel Edward John Sutton Ward [1909-90], of the Life Guards, by his 1st wife the former Margaret Susan Corbett [died 1981].

Mrs Ward leaves two sons from her first marriage, Mark Henry Dinan [b 9 March 1963], and Dominic John Dinan [b 27 June, 1966].
