The engagement was announced 9 June, 2025, between Capt (Richard) Jeremy William Elmhirst (born 1996), of The Scots Guards, scion of that landed gentry family, the eldest son of Lieutenant-Colonel (Charles) Marcus Ross Elmhirst (born 1972), of Betws Ifan, Ceredigion, and his wife the Hon Jessamy Jane Lewis (born 1972), & Nichola Holly Lawrence-Millard (born 1998), daughter of Mr Reginald Millard (born 1952) and Mrs Elizabeth Joan Lawrence-Millard (nee Lawrence), of Oswestry, Shropshire.
Capt Jeremy Elmhirst is a grandson of the Hon Trevor Oswin Lewis, CBE (1935-2015), the disclaimed 4th Baron Merthyr, and is a nephew of the 5th Baron Merthyr.
