The Baroness Ramsbotham, who died 20 September, 2021, aged 83, was the wife of General the Baron Ramsbotham, GCB, GBE [born 6 Nov, 1934], a retired British Army officer, who later served as Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons. He was awarded a life peerage in 2005, and now sits on the cross benches of the House of Lords.
She was the former Susan Caroline Dickinson, scion of the Dickinson landed family, of Stocksfield, daughter of Robert Joicey Dickinson [1901-81], and his wife the former Alice Penelope Barnett [1907-1985], descended from the Monck baronets; and married in 1958, the then David John Ramsbotham, son of the Rt Rev John Alexander Ramsbotham [1906-89], late Bishop of Wakefield, and his wife the former Eirian Morgan Owen [who died in 1988], by whom she had issue, 2 sons.
