_.Peter Dawnay, who died 6 April, 2021, aged 88, was a scion of the Viscounts Downe.
He was born 17 December, 1932, son [twin with his brother Hugh] of Major-General Sir David Dawnay, KCVO, CB, DSO [1903-71], and his wife the former Lady Katherine Nora de la Poer Beresford [1899-1991], scion of the Marquesses of Waterford.
His father was sometime commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
He married in 1980, Caroline Mary Tindal [born 1946], scion of the Tindal-Carill-Worsley landed gentry family, daughter of Group Capt Nicholas Henry Joseph Tindal [1911-2006], and his wife the former Winifred Mary Cooper [1913-97], by whom he had issue, one son, Giles William, who was born in 1981.
