Capt Sir David Clayton, 12th Baronet 1936-2021

 _.Capt. Sir David Clayton, 12th Baronet, who died 22 April, 2021, aged 84, was a Shipmaster [merchant navy] and sometime director of Oceanic Liners [UK] Ltd.

David Robert Clayton was born 12 December, 1936, son of Lieut-Cdr Sir Arthur Harold Clayton, 11th Baronet, DSC, RN [1903-85], and his 2nd wife the former Alexandra Andreevsky, daughter of Sergei Andreevsky.

He was educated in HMS Conway and joined the Merchant Service in 1953, and was promoted to first command as Captain in 1970; a Director of Oceanic Liners [UK] Ltd from 1989.

David Clayton, of Kingswear, Dartmouth, Devon, succeeded his father in the baronetcy, 6 August, 1985. 

He married in 1971, Julia Louise Redfearn, daughter of Charles Henry Redfearn, by whom he had two sons, Robert, and John. The elder son, Robert Philip Clayton, born 8 July, 1975, now succeeds to the baronetcy which was created in 1732.
