_The Hon Mrs Julian Berry, who died 13 June, 2010, was the widow of
Col the Hon Julian Berry, OBE, JP,DL (1920-88), a scion of the
Viscounts Camrose (Peerage UK 1941).

She was (Janet Frances) Denise Rowan-Thomson, elder dau of Maj (John)
Leslie Rowan-Thomson, of Sayers, Great Somerford, Wilts, and married
Julian Berry, youngest son of the 1st Viscount Camrose, in 1946. He
died in 1988. She elaves issue, a son, Simon Ewert Berry (b 1955), and
a dau, Caroline (b 1948), wife of James Wagg (descended from the
Horlick Baronets).


A Thanksgiving Service takes place at St Mary's, Herriard, 15 July
2010.

Barbara Wingfield-Stratford (b 1916), scion of the Viscounts
Powerscourt, dau of Esme Cecil Wingfield-Stratford (1882-1971).

Death of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon

The 15th Duke of Hamilton & 12th Duke of Brandon died on June 5, 2010. He was 71.

The duke was Premier Peer of Scotland & Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holyrood House. He bore the Crown of Scotland before the Queen at the opening of the first Scottish Parliament in 1999.

Angus Alan Douglas Douglas-Hamilton was born September 13, 1938, eldest son of the 14th duke by his wife the former Lady Elizabeth Ivy Percy, daughter of the 8th Duke of Northumberland, of Alnwick Castle.

The Old Etonian duke served as Flight Lt (RAF), and was buried in his uniform; he was a test pilot with Scottish Aviation, and member of The Queen's Body Guard for Scotland (Royal Company of Archers).

He married firstly in 1972 (div 1987) Sarah Jane (died 1994), dau of Sir Walter Scott, 4th Baronet; married secondly, 1988, Jillian (nee Robertson), former wife of (i) Martin Page and (ii) Edward Hulton, son of Sir Edward Hulton; and married thirdly, 1998, Kay Carmichael, who survives him, together with his children from his 1st marriage. His elder son, Alexander Douglas, Marquess of Douglas & Clydesdale, who was born March 31, 1978, now succeeds to his father's honours.

The Lady Laura Melissa Duckworth-Chad (nee Fortescue-Gore, b 14 Jun 1975), wife of Maj James Anthony L'Etang Duckworth-Chad (b 1972), has given birth to a daughter, Viola Cecily Fortescue, 12 May, 2010, a sister for Molly, who was b 21 Sept 2006.

Maj Duckworth-Chad is a grandson of the former Lady Anne Spencer, sister of the 8th Earl Spencer. Lady Laura is a dau of the 9th Earl of Arran by his wife the former Eleanor van Cutsem.

Death of Lady Susan Askew, sister of the 6th Duke of Sutherland

_.The Lady Susan Alice Askew, who died 29 April, 2010, was a scion of the Earls of Ellesmere, and a sister of the late 6th Duke of Sutherland. She was born in 1913, as Lady Susan Egerton, 4th daughter of the 4th Earl of Ellesmere (1872-1944), by his wife the former Lady Violet Lambton (1880-1976), daughter of the 4th Earl of Durham; her only brother, John (1915-2000), succeeded as 5th Earl of Ellesmere in 1944, and as 6th Duke of Sutherland on the demise of his kinsman, in 1963. Two sisters, Mary and Jane married Scropes; another two sisters, Margaret and Alice, were members of the Royal Household. Lady Margaret was a Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen and later to the Queen Mother, and wife of Sir Jock Colville (scion of Colville of Culross), and Lady Alice, was a Woman of the Bedchamber to the Queen, who committed suicide in 1977. Lady Susan married, 4 Oct 1933 (div. 1966) Maj John Marjoribanks Askew CBE, only son of William Haggerston Askew, of Ladykirk, co. Berwick, and has issue, a son Henry, and a dau, Sarah, who married 1959, the 3rd Baron Faringdon.

_The 7th Marquess Townshend, who died on St George's Day 2010, aged 93, had been a peer for 88 years, having inherited the peerage in 1921.

George John Patrick Dominic [Townshend], 7th Marquess Townshend, was born 13 May, 1916, son of the 6th Marquess (1866-1921), by his wife, the former Gwladys Ethel Gwendolen Eugénie Sutherst, d. 10 Oct 1959), 1st dau. of Thomas Sutherst, of Fountains Court, Temple, London.

Sir Michael Aykroyd, 4th Baronet, died suddenly, 21 March 2010. Family Funeral has taken place on 30th March. UK 1929) He succ his cousin the 3rd Bt in 2007. He m 1952 Oenone Gillian Diana dau of Donald George COWLING MBE, of Leeds and had a son and two daus. His son succeeds him.

Richard is the eldest son of the 6th Baron Grey of Codnor and Baroness
Grey of Codnor, of High Legh, Cheshire, and Annie is the third
daughter of Mr and Mrs Frederick Riches, of Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Richard's father is only the 6th Baron Grey of Codnor even though the
peerage of England was created in 1397. The title was abeyant between
1496 and 1989.

__The Lady Mary Rose (Emma) Williams (nee FitzRoy) who died at the Old Prebenal House, 8 March, 2010, aged 91, was a scion of the Dukes of Grafton, born posthumously, 7 September, 1918, dau of William Henry Alfred,Viscount Ipswich (1884-1918), by his wife Auriol Brougham (d 1938), scion of the Barons Brougham & Vaux. Her father was killed in a plane crash, and her brother, the 9th Duke of Grafton (1914-36), died in a motor racing accident. Lady Mary Rose was a co-heir, with her
elder sister, Lady Margaret Jane FitzRoy (later Nelson) to the barony of Arlington, which peerage was called out of abeyance in 1999, in favour of her niece Jennifer Jane Nelson (Mrs Forwood). family of Musker, of Shadwell Park, son of Herbert Musker (1878-1947),
of Rushford Hall, Thetford, by his wife the former Nora Lonsdale Berry
(later, wife of Sir Egerton Hamond-Graeme, 5th Bart, & a niece of the
1st & last Baron Armaghdale). Rosemary Musker leaves a dau, Juliet

She was born Suzanne Marie-Adèle Fesq, circa 1921, dau. of Emile William Fesq, of Mas Mistral, Vence, France, and married the then Charles Beauclerk, as his 2nd wife, 19 Mar, 1947. Her husband succeeded to the dukedom (Peerage of England) on the demise of a cousin, 2 Mar, 1964, and died 8 Oct 1988, when he was succeeded by a son of his 1st marriage. The duchess leaves issue, viz: Lord Peter Charles de Vere Beauclerk (b. 13 Jan 1948); Lord James Charles Fesq de Vere Beauclerk (b. 6 Feb 1949); Lord John William Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk (b. 10 Feb 1950); Lady Caroline Anne de Vere
Beauclerk (b. 19 Jul 1951). She was predeceased by a daughter who died in infancy in 1963.

Anthony Seymour Bellville (of the LG family of Bellville of Tedstone
Court). She was dau of Ewen Cameron Bruce (of the LG family Bruce of

She was born Cordelia Mary Stephen, at Farnham, Surrey, in 1918, dau
of Maj Humfrey Campbell Stephen, JP, of High Mead, Dormansland,
Surrey, and married Paul Greenway in 1939. He died in 1975. She leaves
issue, Ambrose, the 4th Baron (b 21 May 1941), and is predeceased by 2
other sons, Mervyn (1942-2001) and Nigel (b 1944- d?). Lady Greenway's
body has been donated for medical research at her request. Memorial

marriage to Lieutenant-Commander George Gosselin Marten, MVO, DSC, RN,
son of Vice-Admiral Sir Francis Marten, KBE, CB, CMG, CVO, took place
at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, 25 Nov 1949. He was an equerry to
the King, and the marriage was attended by King George VI, Queen
Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the

aged 69, commanded HMS Sheffield - the first British warship to be
sunk by enemy action after the Second World War

James Frederick Thomas George Salt, always known as Sam, was born 19
April 1940, six months before his father Lt-Cdr George Stevenson Salt
(b 1908), was lost in the submarine Triad which sailed from Malta for
war patrol in the Gulf of Taranto and was never heard from again.
Sam's mother was the former Lilian Bridget Francis.
Rear-Adml Salt married in1975, Penelope Walker, daughter of Anthony
Walker. She survives him with their three sons; another son
predeceased him. Sam's sister is Lady Spencer-Nairn, wife of the 3rd
Baronet, &c.

She is survived by her husband and by her children from her 1st marriage, Lisa, Marianna, Katharine and Antonia. The funeral takes place at St Mary's, Goudhurst, 14 Dec.

Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal is a great-grandson of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey. Rodople's father is a son of Raimund von Hofmannsthal (d. 1974), who married (as his second wife) in 1939, the Lady Elisabeth Hester Mary Paget (b. 1916), daughter of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey (1885-1947)

1992. Married 4 Sep 1993, Bronwen Mae James, dau. of William T James,
and is survived by her and by a son, and heir, the Hon William Martin
Theodore Hawke (b. 23 Jun 1995), and a daughter, the Hon Alice Julia

late Charles Purdon Coote (1875-1954), of Mallow, Co Cork, scion of
the Coote Baronets (cr Ireland 1621), devoted mother, grandmother,
great grandmother. She was b 1908, dau of Lt-Col Ernest Henry Denne
Stracey (1871-1948), by his wife the former Faith Dorothy Beatrice
Mounteney Popham (d 1965); & married Mr Purdon Coote in 1933. She
leaves issue, inc dau, Nicola Harriette, wife since 1959 of the 22nd
Baron Clinton. The Funeral Service at Chelsea Old Church, London on
Wednesday 2nd December. Service and burial will follow in Ireland on
Friday 4th December at St James' Church, Mallow, Co Cork.

_The Baroness Trevelyan, who died 24 November, 2009, aged 96, was the widow of the Baron Trevelyan, KG, GCMG, CIE, OBE (1905-85). She was b circa 1913 as Violet Margaret (Peggie) Bartholemew, only dau of General Sir William Henry Bartholemew, GCB, CMG, DSO (1877-1962) by his wife the former Violet Alice Penton; and married the then Humphrey Trevelyan, scion of the Trevelyan Baronets (cr 1662), in 1937. Her husband, created a life peer in 1968 and a Knight of the Garter in 1974, died in 1985. She leaves a dau, the Hon Catherine Mary (Kate), and grandchildren, Allan Busse, Jan Busse, and Nicola Busse.

Death of Lady Maureen Fellowes, daughter of the 4th Earl of Gainsborough

The Lady Maureen Josephine Thérèse Fellowes (née Noel), who died 25 Nov, 2009, at the age of 92, was a scion of the Earls of Gainsborough; b Lady Maureen Noel, 7 March 1917, dau of the 4th Earl of Gainsborough, by his wife the former Alice Mary Eyre; she married (i) 19 Feb 1944, 15th Baron Dormer (1903-75), by whom she had 2 daughters, the Hon Jane and the Hon Catherine Dormer; married (ii) 22 Jul 1982,
Peregrine Edward Launcelot Fellowes, who died 15 Feb 1999; she is surv by her daughters and grandchildren, Emma, James and Raphael, & great- grandchildren Charlie, Elisa, Lara and Arthur. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday 7th December at St Catharine's Church, Chipping Campden, Glos.

Hector Granville Lindsay

_.The Lady Amy Jane Lindsay (nee Gordon, b 1975), scion of the Marquesses of Huntly, and wife of Andrew J.R. Lindsay, gave birth to a son, Hector Granville, 17 November, 2009.

Andrew Lindsay is the son of Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Stephen Lindsay, & Lady Amy is the elder daughter of the 13th Marquis of Huntly (b. 1944), of Aboyne Castle, Aberdeenshire, by his 1st wife, Jane Elizabeth Angela Gibb (descended from the Viscounts Cowdray).
