The engagement was announced 18 October, 2005, between Dr Christopher Gale, eldest son of Mr & Mrs Robert Gale, of Furneaux Pelham, Hertfordshire, and Melanie Angela Allsopp (b. 1977), scion of the Barons Hindlip, daughter of David Samuel Allsopp (b. 1933), of London, by his second wife, Sally.
