Sir [Francis] Michael Ian Bruce, 12th Baronet, died 28 February, 2021, at Long Beach, California, United States. He was 94.
He was born 3 April, 1926, son of Sir Michael William Selby Bruce, 11th Baronet [1894-1957], and his first wife the former Doreen Dalziel Greenwell.
Sir Michael was a veteran of the Second World War having served in the US Marine Corps, Amphibious Forces, and Fleet Marines Force 1943-1946 (Solomon Is, Bismarck Archipelago and Philippines Campaigns). He was a partner of Gossard-Bruce Company, and was owner of the American Maritime Company, and The Eye Witness (a legal photograph service). He was a Master Mariner.
He succeeded to the baronetcy [created by Charles I in 1628] on his father's demise, 20 May, 1957.
Sir Michael married five times. He married firstly, 21 Aug, 1947 (div 1957) Barbara Stevens Lynch, daughter of Francis Lynch; and married 2ndly, 1961 (div 1963) Frances Keegan; married 3rdly, 1966 (div 1975) Marilyn Anne Mullaly,; and 4thly, 1991 (div) Patricia Gail Root; and 5thly, in 1994, Alessandro Conforto. Sir Michael had two sons from his first marriage, Michael [born 1950], and Robert [born 1952].
The baronetcy now passes to his elder son, Michael Ian Richard Bruce of Stenhouse, Younger, who was born 10 December, 1950.
