_. Leslie Francis Hanbury, who died 4 July, 2020, aged 93, was a scion of the Hanbury landed gentry family, of Drumstinchall, Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire, formerly of Poles.
He was born 23 September, 1926, the second son of Capt Robert Francis Hanbury [1883-1960], by his wife the former Margaret Lucy Scott, scion of the Scotts of Rotherfield.
He was educated at Eton, and served in the RASC 1945-48 Married 1966, Daphne G. Briggs, by whom he had issue, two daughters, [1] Anna Lucy Hanbury [born 1973], who married 26 Apr, 2003, Samuel Adrian Aubrey Sykes [born 24 April, 1974], son of Adrian William Guy Sykes, by his wife the former Hon Nicola Mary Caroline Buxton [born 7 July, 1947], daughter of the Baron Buxton of Alsa [1918-2009]; and [2] Lucy Emily Hanbury [born 1976], who married 2005, Timothy J Porritt.
