Michael William Tomson Nott died tragically on April 28th 2009, after a fall while visiting his sister in Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife Pippa, his father Francis and his sister.—Carolyn. He was the son of William Francis Bell NOTT OBE TD (b 1908) of the LG family formerly of Staunton-upon-Wye and Joan dau of Charles Mansham TOMSON of Green Meadow, Charlton Kings, Glos. Their son Peter married 1967 (as her 2nd husband, her first was a scion of the Grey Egerton Bts, by whom she had issue) Sarah Jessica (b 1940) dau of Willoughby Rollo NORMAN (son of Sir Henry Norman, 1st Bt (UK 1915) and his 2nd wife the Hon Florence Priscilla McLAREN (dau of 1st Baron Aberconway)) and his 1st wife the Hon Barbara Jacqueline BOOT dau of 2nd Baron Trent (ext 1956). They have two daus.

Ken Annakin, film director, dies aged 94

Ken Annakin, OBE, the film director (Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines/Battle of the Bulge), who died 22 April, 2009, aged 94, was b 10 Aug 1914.

He was a nephew of the 1st (and last) Viscount Snowden (cr 1931, ext. 15 May 1937). Annakin's father was a brother of Ethel Annakin, who, in 1905, married the Labour politician, and future viscount, Philip Snowden.

Sir Robin Gillett, 2nd Baronet, who died 21 April, 2009, aged 83, was Lord Mayor of London, 1976-77.

Robin Danvers Penrose Gillett was born 9 Nov 1925, the son of Sir (Sydney) Harold Gillett, 1st Bt, MC, who was Lord Mayor of London, 1958-59.

He was educated at the Nautical College, Pangbourne, and Hill Crest School. He was b 24 Aug 1922; son of Maj the 10th Earl of Harrington (1887-1929), by his wife the former Margaret Trelawney (Susan) Seaton; succeeded his father in 1929 in the Earldom of Harrington and Viscountcy of Petersham and Barony of Harrington, and to the Viscountcy of Stanhope of Mahon and Barony of Stanhope of Elvaston in 1967 on the demise of his kinsman, the last Earl Stanhope.
