Earl of Harrington dies aged 86

The Earl of Harrington, who died 12 April, 2009, at the age of 86, was 11th Earl of Harrington (Great Britain, let. pat. 9 Feb 1742); 8th Viscount Stanhope of Mahon, (Great Britain, let. pat. 2 Jul 1717); 11th Viscount Petersham (Great Britain, let. pat. 9 Feb 1742); 8th Baron Stanhope of Elvaston, of Elvaston in the County of Derby (Great Britain, let. pat. 2 Jul 1717); 11th Baron Harrington, of Harrington in the County of Northampton (Great Britain, let. pat. 6 Jan 1730).
He was b 24 Aug 1922; son of Maj the 10th Earl of Harrington (1887-1929), by his wife the former Margaret Trelawney (Susan) Seaton; succeeded his father in 1929 in the Earldom of Harrington and Viscountcy of Petersham and Barony of Harrington, and to the Viscountcy of Stanhope of Mahon and Barony of Stanhope of Elvaston in 1967 on the demise of his kinsman, the last Earl Stanhope.
Educated at Eton. Capt 15/19th King's Royal Hussars; married 1stly, 5 Feb 1942 (div. 1946) Eileen Foley-Grey, only child of Sir John Foley- Grey, 8th Bt., of Enville Hall, Stourbridge, by his first wife Jean Jessie Mary de Sales de Terriere, of that LG family, dau. of Capt de Sales de Terriere, of Dunastair, co. Perth; married 2ndly, 24 Jan 1947 (div. 1962) Anne Theodora Chute, only dau. of Maj Richard Arenbourg Blennerhassett Chute, of Dooneen, Patrickswell, co. Limerick; married 3rdly, 14 Oct 1964 Priscilla Margaret Cubitt, 2nd and only surv. dau. of Maj Hon Archibald Edward Cubitt, of Dedington, co. Oxford (by his second wife Sibell Margaret Norman, of that LG family, 1st dau. of Ronald Collet Norman, of Moor Place, Much Hadham), 5th son of Henry [Cubitt], 2nd Baron Ashcombe, and a kinswoman of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.
The family honours now devolve upon his Lordship's 1st son (of the 1st marriage), Charles Henry Leicester Stanhope, styled Viscount Petersham (b. 20 Jul 1945), who is father of Viscountess Linley, daughter-in-law of HRH Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
