Capt Francis Philip Brooke-Popham, OBE, RN, who died 4 April, 2026, aged 97, was head of that landed gentry family.
He was born in 1928, son of Air Chief Marshal Sir (Henry) Robert Moore Brooke-Popham, GCVO, KCB, CMG, DSO, RAF (1878-1953), and his wife the former Opal Mary Hugonin (1900-1983), scion of that landed gentry family, and married 23 February, 1957, Susan Carmichael Fry (born 1939), daughter of John Fry (1907-1986), of Yelverton, Devon, by his wife the former Marjory Catherine (Kathleen) Viles (1910-1995), by whom he had issue, three daughters, Jane, Catherine, and Mary.
