Baroness Geraint (died 2026)

Baroness Geraint, who died 10 April, 2026, aged 93, was widow of the life peer the Baron Geraint.

She was the former (Mary) Olwen Hughes, of Tregaron, Dyfed, and married in 1957, the then Geraint Wyn Howells (born 15 April, 1925), son of David John Howells, of Brynglas, Ponterwyd, Cardiganshire.

Her husband was Liberal MP for Cardigan, 1974-1988, and Lib Dem MP for the same constituency until 1992. He was Chairman of the Welsh Liberal Party 1972-74, and President 1974-78. Liberal Spokesman on Wales 1985-87, Lib Spokesman on Agriculture, 1989-1992, and raised to the peerage for life in 1992 on leaving the Commons. His peerage was gazetted as Baron Geraint, of Ponterwyd, co Dyfed.

Baroness Geraint was widowed 17 April, 2004. She leaves issue, two daughters, Gaenor and Mari.
