James Mayo Alastair Gunn died 20 March, 2026, aged 100.
He was born in Bristol in July, 1925, a son of Henry Somerville Gunn (1882-1966), and his wife the former Margaret Aileen Constance Wise (1893-1976); and married 1stly, 10 December, 1949 (div. 1968), as her first husband, Jill Rosalind Bruce (1927-2017), scion of the Earls of Elgin & Kincardine, fourth daughter of Capt. Charles Bruce (1883-1958), and his wife the former Joan Woodiwiss (1900-1984), scion of that landed gentry family; & married 2ndly, 1982, Rosemary Hunter (born circa 1952), daughter of Michael Henry Hunter (1927-1988), and his wife the former Rosemary Claire Bull (1928-2011).
From his first marriage he leaves issue, two sons, Henry and David, and two daughters Nicola and Ann, and from his second marriage he leaves a son, Alastair, and a daughter, Claire.
