Constance Faith Alethea Hugh Raven, of the Ardtornish estate in the Scottish Highlands, who died 22 March, 2026, aged 95, was a scion of the Smith landed gentry family of Midhurst.
She was born 31 July, 1930, daughter of Owen Hugh Smith (1869-1958), and his wife (and cousin) Emmeline Abel Smith (1894-1970); and married 24 July, 1954, John Earle Raven (1914-1980), son of the late Rev Dr Charles Earle Raven, by his first wife Margaret Ermyntrude Buchanan Wollaston, daughter of Stanley George Buchanan Wollaston, of that landed gentry family, by whom she had issue, two sons, Andrew Owen Earle (1959-2005), & Hugh Jonathan Earle (b 20 Apr, 1961), and three daughters, Diana Jane (b 23 Apr, 1956), Sarah Clare (b 3 Feb, 1963), and Jane Emma (twin, b 3 Feb, 1963).
