The engagement was announced 21 March, 2026, between Capt. Fergus Edward Napoleon Cowan (born 8 February, 1996), The Royal Regiment of Scotland, elder son of Major-General James Michael Cowan, CBE, DSO (born 1964), and his wife the Dr the Hon Mary Louise Manningham-Buller (born 8 March, 1970), & Isabel Anne Chalmers (born 1998), younger daughter of Andrew Fyfe Chalmers (born 1964) and Dr Joanna Louise Chalmers (born 1967, nee Gill).
Capt Fergus Cowan is a grandson maternally of the 2nd Viscount Dilhorne (1932-2022).
