Sir Patrick McNair-Wilson, who has died aged 96, was a former Conservative MP, a newspaper editor and broadcaster.
He served as Conservative MP for Lewisham West 1964-66, and for the New Forest 1968-97. He was knighted in 1989.
Patrick Michael Ernest David McNair-Wilson was born 28 May, 1929, son of Dr Robert McNair-Wilson (1882-1963), of Broadley House, Sway, Hampshire, by his 2nd wife the former Doris May Fischel (1898-1993); and married 11 April, 1953, Diana Evelyn Kitty Methuen-Campbell (1932-2015), scion of the Barons Methuen, daughter of the Hon Laurence Paul Methuen (1898-1970), and his wife the former Hon Olive Douglas Campbell (1896-1949), scion of the Barons Blythswood.
Sir Patrick leaves issue, a son, Guy (born 20 March, 1968), and four daughters, Jennifer (born 26 Jan, 1954), Arabella (born 23 Jan, 1959), Patricia (born 20 Jan, 1964), and Kate (born 16 Apr, 1974).
