The engagement was announced 13 September, 2025, between Roland Giles Thomas (born May, 1996), youngest son of Simon Richard Thomas (born 27 February, 1957), of Fulham, by his wife the former Chantal Aline Holland (born 1960), & Letitia Mary Rose Byatt (born 3 March, 1996), daughter of Duncan Ian Arthur Campbell Byatt (born 1962), of Carse, Argyll and London, and his wife the former Alexandra Mary Loyd (born 14 October, 1961), scion of that landed gentry family.
Alexandra Byatt, is a daughter of Sir Julian Loyd, KCVO (1926-2018), who was land agent on the Sandringham estate from 1964 to 1991. Alexandra was a childhood friend and neighbour of Lady Diana Spencer, and served as Lady-in-waiting to Diana, Princess of Wales, from 1991 to 1997.
The bride-to-be had a brother Henry Byatt (born 10 Apr, 1998), who died while free-diving at a luxury Greek resort. Harry's body was found on the seabed off the coast of Zakynthos, in August, 2017.
Harry’s father Duncan Byatt, a senior civil servant at the Cabinet Office – had been the chief executive at The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry from 2009 to 2010, helping to set up the charity which supports the Armed Forces, young people, and conservation.
