Filmer Courtenay William Honywood was born 20 May, 1930, son of Sir William Wynne Honywood, 10th Baronet MC (1891-1982), and his wife the former Maud Naylor Wilson (1888-1953); and succeeded to the baronetcy (created in 1660) on the death of his father, 10 August, 1982.

He married 12 May, 1956, Elizabeth Margaret Mary Cynthia Miller (1931-1996), daughter of Sir Alastair Miller of Glenlee, 6th Baronet (1893-1964), and his second wife the former Margaret May Shotter (who died 1978), by whom he had two sons, Rupert and Simon, and two daughters, Mary and Judith. The elder son, Rupert Anthony Honywood (born 2 March, 1957), succeeds as 12th Baronet.

The Baron Campbell of Pittenweem, CH, CBE, PC 1941-2025

 The Baron Campbell of Pittenweem, CH, CBE, PC, who died 26 September, 2025, aged 84, was a life peer, and was the Liberal Democrat MP for North East Fife from 1987 to 2015 known as 'Ming' Campbell, and served as Leader of the Liberal Democrats from 2006 to 2007, having been deputy leader since 2003.

(Walter) Menzies Campbell was born 22 May, 1941, son of George Alexander Campbell and his wife the former Elizabeth Jean Adam Phillips, & was educated at Hillhead High School and the University of Glasgow, graduating with a Scottish Master of Arts (MA) in 1962 and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1965. He was elected President of the Glasgow University Liberal Club in 1962, and of the Glasgow University Union for 1964–65.

He was Liberal spokesman on the arts, broadcasting and sport 1987-1988, Liberal Spokesman on sport and defence 1988-94, Lib spokesman on Foreign Affairs & Defence 1994-1997, later chief spokesman on Foreign Affairs, on Europe 1997-2001, on Defence 1997-2001, member of numerous parliamentary committees.

He was appointed CBE (1987), PC (1999), KC (Scotland) 1982.

Menzies Campbell married in 1970, as her second husband, Elspeth Mary, Lady Grant-Suttie, former wife of Sir George Philip Grant-Suttie, 8th Baronet (1938-1997), and daughter of Major-General Robert Elliott Urquhart, CB, DSO (1901-1988), and his wife the former Pamela Condon (who died 2006).

Lady Campbell of Pittenweem died in 2023.

Her husband, of Haskerton, co Suffolk, died 13 August, 2019, aged 83.

 The marriage has taken place in Gibraltar, in September, 2025, between William Legge, 10th Earl of Dartmouth (born 23 September, 1949), son of the late 9th Earl of Dartmouth (1924-1997), and his first wife the former Raine McCorquodale (1929-2016), scion of that landed gentry family, and Diandra Luker (born circa 1956), daughter of an Austrian diplomat, and former wife of the actor Michael Douglas.

The new Countess of Dartmouth married firstly, 1977 (div 1995) Michael Kirk Douglas (born 25 September, 1944), the actor and film producer, son of actor Kirk Douglas (1916-2020), and his 1st wife the former Diana Love Dill (1923-2015), and has issue, a son, the actor Cameron Morrell Douglas (born 13 December, 1978). Diandra also has twin sons with ex-fiance Zach Bacon III, having used a surrogate mother, as well as an adoptive daughter, Imara.

 Helen Lady Pickthorn, who died 1 August, 2025, aged 98, was the widow of Sir Charles Pickthorn, 2nd Baronet.

She was the former Helen Antonia Mann, born 31 July, 1927, daughter of Sir James Gow Mann, KCVO (1897-1962), an eminent figure in the art world, who was surveyor of the King's Works of Art 1945-52, and then surveyor of the Queen's Works of Art 1952-62, by his wife the former Mary Cooke, daughter of the Rev Dr G.A. Cooke.

She was a granddaughter of the post-impressionist painter Alexander Mann (1853-1908).

She married 5 July, 1951, Charles William Richards Pickthorn, (born 3 March, 1927), a barrister, son of Sir Kenneth William Murray Pickthorn, 1st Baronet, PC (1892-1975), sometime MP for Carlton 1950-66, and a junior minister in Churchill's Conservative government 1951-54, created a baronet in 1959, by his wife the former Nancy Catherine Lewis Richards (who died 15 July, 1982). Her husband succeeded to his father's baronetcy, 12 November, 1975, and died 20 June, 1995.

Lady Pickthorn leaves issue, a son, Sir James Pickthorn, 3rd Baronet (born 18 Feb, 1955), and two daughters, Caroline (b 26 Jan, 1958), and Frances (b 9 Apr, 1960).

 The Baroness Cunliffe, who died 2 September, 2025, aged 92, was the wife of the 3rd Baron Cunliffe.

The former Clemency Ann Hoare was born in 1933, scion of that landed gentry family, daughter of Maj. Geoffrey Benyon Hoare (1902-1978), of Meadham, Harlow, Essex, and his wife the former Phyllis Mary Jones (1909-2001); and married 27 April, 1957, the then Hon Roger Cunliffe (born 12 January, 1932), son and heir of the 2nd Baron Cunliffe (1899-1963), and his wife the former Joan Catherine Lubbock (1903-1980), scion of the Lubbock baronets (later Barons Avebury). Her husband succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Cunliffe, 24 November, 1963.

Lord Cunliffe is a retired architect and consulting project manager. He specialised in project strategy, particularly for office buildings, museums and exhibition complexes, and for city planning, both in the UK and overseas. He designed various museums and office buildings, and was the job architect of the listed Commonwealth Institute in Holland Park, London. He and his wife now have a small farm and woodlands in Suffolk.

The title of baron was granted to his grandfather, who was Governor of the Bank of England from 1914 to 1918, on 14 December 1914.

Lady Cunliffe is survived by her husband and two sons and a daughter.

Field Marshal The Baron Guthrie of Craigiebank, GCB, GCVO, OBE, DL 1938-2025

 Field Marshal The Baron Guthrie of Craigiebank, GCB, GCVO, OBE, DL, died suddenly, 18 September, 2025. He was 86.

Guthrie was a senior officer of the British Army who served as Chief of the General Staff from 1994 to 1997 and Chief of the Defence Staff from 1997 until his retirement in 2001. Lord Guthrie's military career saw service with the Welsh Guards and the Special Air Service; he was closely involved in military operations in Northern Ireland and provided advice to the British Government during the Bosnian War and the Kosovo War. He was Chief of the General Staff 1994-97, and Chief of the Defence Staff 1997-2001, was raised to the peerage of life, in June 2001, as Baron Guthrie of Craigiebank.

The Field Marshal was Colonel of the Life Guards and Gold Stick in Waiting to Queen Elizabeth II, 1999-2019.

Charles Ronald Llewelyn Guthrie was born 17 November, 1938, son of Major Ronald Guthrie and his wife the former Nina Llewelyn; and married 11 September, 1971, Catherine A. Worrall (born 10 September, 1941), daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Claude Worrall, OBE, MVO, of the Coldstream Guards, of Bitham Hall, Warwickshire, and his wife the former Cecilia Moore, by whom he had issue, 2 sons.

Lady Guthrie died 8 October, 2022.

 The Viscountess Selby (nee Amanda Sara Viktoria Blomquist, born 28 Sept, 1997), wife of Christopher Rolf Thomas Gully, the 6th Viscount Selby (born 18 Oct, 1993), gave birth to a daughter, the Hon Lucy Gully, 11 September, 2025.

The 6th Viscount Selby (Peerage of the UK, cr 1905), is the son of the late 5th Viscount (1967-2001), and his first wife the former Charlotte Catherine Brege (who died 1995), daughter of Rolph Brege, of Lomma, Sweden. 

Christopher succeeded to the viscountcy upon his father's death, 23 January, 2001.

 Francis Rory Annesley, who died 10 September, 2025, aged 83, was descended maternally from the Earls Annesley.

He was born in 1942, the elder son of Gerald Francis Annesley Sowerby (1905-1992), who later assumed the surname of Annesley in lieu of his patronymic, by his second wife the former Mary Patricia MacDonald (who died 2012), daughter of Maj. Donald Ramsey MacDonald, DSO, MC, of Hollymount, Carlow; and married 1stly in 1964, Althea Urquhart, daughter of Kenneth Leslie Urquhart, of New Abbey, Kilcullen, Co Kildare; married 2ndly circa 1981, Fiona _______, by whom he had issue, a daughter, Augusta (born Oct, 1972).

He was a grandson of Lady Mabel Marguerite Annesley (1881-1959), who married in 1904, Commander Gerald Sowerby, RN (1878-1913), son of Thomas Charles Johnson Sowerby (1838-1890), of Gainford, Co Durham. 

He was a great-nephew of the 6th Earl Annesley (b 1884, who was killed in in action, 6 November, 1914, at Ostend), and a great-grandson of Lt.-Col. the 5th Earl Annesley (1831-1908).

The Earldom of Annesley was created in 1789, Peerage of Ireland.

The 6th Baron Raglan 1932-2025

 The 6th Baron Raglan died 9 September, 2025. He was 93.

He was a Councillor: Berkshire County Council 1966-75, Newbury District Council 1978-83 and Oxfordshire County Council 1988-93.

Geoffrey Somerset, a direct descendant of FitzRoy Somerset, the 1st Baron, who lost an arm at the Battle of Waterloo. He was born 29 August, 1932, third son of the 4th Baron Raglan (1885-1964), and his wife the former Hon Julia Hamilton (1901-1971), daughter of the 11th Lord Belhaven & Stenton (1871-1950), and was a younger brother of the 5th Baron (1927-2010), and succeeded to the family honours (Peerage of the UK, created 1852) on his brother's demise, 24 January, 2010.

He married 6 October, 1956,  Caroline Rachel Hill (who died 5 July, 2014), the only daughter of Colonel (Edward) Roderick Hill, DSO (1904-1998), and his wife the former Rachel Hicks-Beach (1904-1983), scion of the baronets of that name (afterwards Earls St Aldwyn), by whom he had issue, two daughters, Belinda (born 9 Feb, 1958), and Lucy (born 8 Feb, 1963), and a son, the Hon Arthur Geoffrey Somerset (born 27 April, 1960, who died 25 July, 2012).

Lord Raglan is succeeded in his peerage by his grandson, Inigo Arthur FitzRoy Somerset (born 7 July, 2004).

Alexandra Byatt, is a daughter of Sir Julian Loyd, KCVO (1926-2018), who was land agent on the Sandringham estate from 1964 to 1991. Alexandra was a childhood friend and neighbour of Lady Diana Spencer, and served as Lady-in-waiting to Diana, Princess of Wales, from 1991 to 1997.

The bride-to-be had a brother Henry Byatt (born 10 Apr, 1998), who died while free-diving at a luxury Greek resort. Harry's body was found on the seabed off the coast of Zakynthos, in August, 2017.

Harry’s father Duncan Byatt, a senior civil servant at the Cabinet Office – had been the chief executive at The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry from 2009 to 2010, helping to set up the charity which supports the Armed Forces, young people, and conservation.

Jane Margaret Kidd, horsewoman and dressage advocate and administrator, who died 21 August, 2025, aged 82, was a granddaughter of the newspaper tycoon and politician, the 1st Baron Beaverbrook.

Jane Kidd was born 3 June, 1943, daughter of Thomas Edward Dealtry Kidd, MBE (1910-1979), of Slythehurst, Ewehurst, co Surrey, and his wife (her third husband) the Hon Janet Gladys Aitken (1908-1988), former wife of (1) Ian Campbell (later 11th Duke of Argyll), from whom she was divorced, and (2) to Flying Officer the Hon William Drogo Sturges Montagu, scion of the Earls of Sandwich, who was killed in action in 1940.

 Jane Kidd married in 1972 (div) as the second of his four wives, Graham Morison Vere Nicoll (1940-2022), son of Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Morison Vere Nicoll, DSO, OBE (1908-1999), and his wife the former Joan Madden (1912-2008), daughter of Admiral Sir Charles Edward Madden, 1st Baronet (1862-1935). The grande dame of British dressage leaves no issue.

Her niece Jemma Kidd (born 1974), is Marchioness Douro, wife of the Duke of Wellington's heir, Arthur Wellesley, styled Marquess Douro (born 1978).

She was born Janet Mary Scrymgeour Wedderburn, 14 August, 1941, the daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel David Scrymgeour-Wedderburn, DSO (1912-Killed in Action, 1944), by his wife the former Patricia Katherine Montagu Douglas Scott (1910-2012), scion of the Dukes of Bucceluch & Queensberry.

She was a first cousin of Brig. Ronald Ferguson (1931-2003), father of Sarah, Duchess of York (b 1959), and cousin of Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester (1901-2004).

She married 18 January, 1962, Capt Edward Arthur Mervyn Lane Fox-Pitt (born 26 November, 1935), Welsh Guards, scion of that landed gentry family, son of Major-General William Augustus Fitzgerald Fox-Pitt, MVO, DSO, DL (1896-1988), and his wife the former Mary Stewart Sinclair, and had issue, a son, David (b 19 Aug, 1964), and two daughters, Leonie (b 27 Oct, 1962), and Miranda (b 29 Dec, 1968).

The Baron Howarth of Newport, CBE, PC 1944-2025

 The Baron Howarth of Newport, CBE, PC, who died 10 September, 2025, aged 81, was a junior minister under Margaret Thatcher and John Major who became disenchanted with Conservative social policies and in 1995 crossed the floor to Labour, going on to be disability and then arts minister for Tony Blair.

Howarth joined Willie Whitelaw in the Tory party chairman’s office and became a key part of the team that took Mrs Thatcher to power in 1979.

He was one of only a few politicians in recent years to have served as a minister in both Labour and Conservative governments. He sat in the House of Lords as a Labour life peer.

Alan Thomas Howarth was Conservative MP for Stratford-on-Avon 1983-95, and for Labour 1995-97, and afterwards Labour MP for Newport East. He was appointed CBE in 1982, and sworn of the Privy Council, 2000.

He was born 11 June, 1944, son of Thomas E.B. Howarth, MC, TD, and his wife Margaret. He married 1967 (div. 1996), Gillian Martha Chance, daughter of Arthur Chance, of Dublin, by whom he had issue, two sons and two daughters. He was later the partner of the Baroness Hollis of Heigham, PC, DL (1941-2018).

He was Private Secretary to the Chairman of the Conservative Party 1975-79, Director, Conservative Res. Dept 1979-81; Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party, 1980-81; PPS to Dr Rhodes Boyson, MP 1985-87; an Assistant Government Whip 1987-88; Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury, 1988-89; Parliamentary Uner Secretary of State, DES, 1989-1992; Schools Minister 1989-90; Minister for High Education and Science 1990-1992; DFEE 1997-98; Employment Minister & Minister for Disabled People; Minister for the Arts & Sec of Conservative Arts & Heritage Committee 1984-85; PLP Social Security Committee 1996-97; Member of the National Heritage Select Ctte 1992-93; Member Social Security Select Committee 1996-97; Member of the Intellifence & Security Cttee, &c. Was Vice Chairman, British Dyslexia Assoc 1994-97; a Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 1984-97, &c.

He was created a life peer in 2005 and his peerage was gazetted in the name, style and title of Baron Howarth of Newport, of Newport in the County of Gwent.
