Lady Bull, who died 4 October, 2023, aged 86, was the wife of Sir George Bull, Knt, sometime Chairman of J Sainsbury PLC, and descended from the Barons Windlesham.
Jane Fleur Thérèse (Tessa) Freeland was born in 1937, daughter of Patrick Freeland, of Zimbabwe, and married in 1960, George Jeffrey Bull (born 16 July, 1936), son of Michael Herbert Perkins Bull (1906-1962), and his wife the Hon Noreen Madeleine Mary Hennessy (1909-2004), daughter of the 1st Baron Windlesham (1877-1953). Her businessman was Director International Distillers and Vintners, 1962-1984. Chief executive drinks sector Grand Metropolitan plc, London, 1984-1992, chairman grandmet food sector, 1992-1993, also board directors, group chief executive, 1994-1996, chairman, 1996-1997. Joint chairman Diageo plc, 1997-1998; Chairman J. Sainsbury plc, London, 1998—2004. Lady Bull is survived by Sir George and by four sons, George, Rupert, Justin and Cassian, and a daughter, Tamsin.
