Hon Alexander Peter Balvaird Murray (born 2025)

Charlotte Nevling Murray, styled Viscountess Stormont (nee Clune), wife of William Philip David Mungo Murray, styled Viscount Stormont [born 1 November, 1988], gave birth to a son, the Hon Alexander Peter Balvaird Murray, 27 May, 2025, a brother for the Hon Helier Edward David Mungo, born 20 July, 2023, who is styled the Master of Stormont.

Viscount Stormont is the son and heir of the Earl of Mansfield & Mansfield [born 17 Oct, 1956], of Scone Palace, Perthshire, and his wife the former Sophia Mary Veronica Ashbrooke [born 22 Jan, 1959].

Viscountess Stormont is a daughter of Mr Jonathan E. Clune [born 17 Dec, 1952], of West Hartford, Connecticut, United States, and his wife the former Sarah Potter [born 17 Aug, 1950].

Viscountess Stormont is destined to become chatelaine of Scone Palace. There can be few places of interest in Scotland as historically potent as Scone Palace. When you visit the Palace you are walking in the footsteps of Scotland’s ancient founding fathers, both pagan and Christian. It was an important religious gathering place of the Picts, it was the site of an early Christian church and it housed the Stone of Destiny.

Robert the Bruce was crowned at Scone in 1306, and the last coronation was of Charles II when he accepted the Scottish crown in 1651.

The place of coronation was called Caislean Credi, 'Hill of Credulity', which survives as the present Moot Hill.

Viscount Stormont's father is the 9th Earl of Mansfield, Alexander David Mungo Murray, who succeeded his father in 2015. He is married to Sophia, daughter of Biden Ashbrooke and Veronica Ashbrooke, nee Stourton. Lord Mansfield is also 14th Viscount Stormont and Lord Scone, 12th Lord Balvaird and Hereditary Keeper of Bruce’s Castle of Lochmaben.

In the 9th century, Kenneth MacAlpin established himself as the first true King of Scots. According to legend, he is said to have invited the Pictish King Drostan with all his nobles to banquet with him at Scone. While they were seated, and perhaps taking advantage of their gluttony of both drink and food, the Scots drew out the bolts supporting the boards, whereupon the Picts fell into the hollows below their benches. While caught in some strange contraption up to their knees, they were all slaughtered.

The last coronation in Scotland took place at Scone in 1651 when King Charles II was crowned King of Scots upon the Moot Hill. The Earls following the 3rd Earl all suffered imprisonment, mainly in consequence of their support of the Jacobite cause.

The 4th Viscount Stormont was briefly imprisoned for his part in a fatal duel. The 5th Viscount opposed the Treaty of Union and entertained James Stuart, the Old Pretender, at Scone Palace during the 1715 Jacobite Rebellion, for which he was imprisoned.

The 6th Viscount suffered the same fate when his sisters received the Young Pretender, Bonnie Prince Charlie, at Scone during the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.

Julian Bernard Hugh Crandall Hollick 1947-2025

Julian Hollick, who died at his home in France, 6 June, 2025, aged 77, was brother of the Duchess of Leinster.

Julian Bernard Hugh Crandall Hollick was born in 1947, son of Harry Bernard Hollick (1912-1985), and his wife the former Fiona F.M. Purcell (1917-2003), and was a brother of Fiona Mary Francesca Hollick (born 1953), wife since 1972, of the 9th Duke of Leinster (born 7 April, 1948).

Julian was an award-winning producer and writer of radio documentaries about Islam and Asia, including The World of Islam (1981-84), Passages to India (1985-89), Letters from Jitvapur (1991-92), Apna Street (1994-96), Monsoon (1997) and Sadak Chhap (2002). With over twenty years experience reporting on international affairs and producing radio for NPR and the BBC, he had previously been awarded numerous grants by the NEH, NSF, Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, Carnegie Corporation, the UNDP and the Massachusetts Cultural Council for his radio programs. ABC's Peter Jennings has called Julian "the person who taught me about Islam", and by countless Indians (at home and abroad) as "the man who knows more about India than we Indians." (Radio Midday, Mumbai)

"Time is perhaps the most important element in my programs. I try and live for months on end with the people whose stories I want to tell. And return again and again, deepening earlier friendships. The second ingredient is not to look at them through Western eyes. If you ask Western questions you'll get Western answers. Which may be comforting, but tell you absolutely nothing about another culture. And you have to want to know them, to care about them, and treat them as your equals."

Educated at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in France (where he also taught), and the London School of Economics (both in International Relations), he also lectured at the Open University and the University of Ulster, before becoming a print and then radio journalist. He wrote on European politics, Islam and India for newspapers, academic journals and magazines, including Smithsonian Magazine and Arabia, throughout the US, Europe, and the Asian and Arab worlds. He worked on a series about how Muslims in a variety of countries actually integrate their faith into their other identities. The series was called Living Islam and was broadcast nationally, starting in New York City, in Fall 2003.

He leaves a widow Martine (nee Crandall) and two children, a son Jerome Francis Crandall Hollick (born 1975), and Margot.

Lady Marina Windsor engaged to Nico Macauley

A 'royal' engagement has just been announced. The latest member of the House of Windsor to become engaged is Lady Marina Windsor, a granddaughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent. The happy bride to be has shared an Instagram image of the engagement ring and her aristocratic  fiancé, Nico Macauley.

It is not known when Lady Marina and Nico, both 32, started dating though the socialite cousin of the King was first linked to the cyber security account executive in 2023, when she posted a selfie with Nico to mark his 30th birthday. Lady Marina recently has shared images on Instagram featuring Nico in a loving embrace at last year’s Glastonbury festival.

Nico Julian Macauley (born 6 April, 1993), is the elder son of the late William Francis Macauley (born 30 Sept, 1953), and his wife the former Nicola Jane Thompson. In 1926, the Berry brothers/Allied Newspapers purchased Amalgamated Press (AP), which had been started by Alfred Harmsworth, 1st Viscount Northcliffe, in 1901 (Harmsworth had died in 1922).

Berry bought out his partners in 1937 and amalgamated The Morning Post with The Daily Telegraph, with himself as chairman and editor-in-chief. His sons Seymour, the 2nd Viscount, and subsequently Michael, continued to run the newspaper until 1986; in addition, Seymour was Vice Chairman of Amalgamated Press from 1942 to 1959 (when AP was acquired by the Mirror Group).
