Hon Jacquetta Mary Theresa James 1928-2019

_. The Hon Jacquetta James ( née Digby) who died 22 February, 2019, aged 90, was a scion of the Barons Digby; born 28 October, 1928, third daughter of the 11th Baron Digby, KG, DSO, MC (1894-1964), by his wife the former Hon Constance Bruce (died 1978), scion of the Barons Aberdare, dau of the 2nd Baron; married 20 May, 1950, David Pelham James, later Guthrie-James, MBE, DSC, MP (who died in 1986), and by whom she had issue.

Her elder sister Pamela (1920-97) was US Ambassador to France, 1993-97, and was the first wife of the Hon Randolph Spencer-Churchill, son of the Rt Hon Sir Winston Churchill, KG, MP, &c, and later wife of Averell Harriman, the US diplomat.

 Funeral Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart & St Aldhelm Church, Sherborne, on Tuesday, 19 March, 2019.

Lady Caroline Lingard (nee Erskine) 1935-2019

The Lady Caroline Lingard, who died 22 February, 2019, aged 83, was a scion of the Earls of Buchan; born in 1935 as Lady Caroline Erskine, daughter of the 16th Earl of Buchan (1899-1984) by his wife the former Christina Baxendale (died 1994); married 1963, John Robin William Lingard (1933-2000), by whom she had issue, 2 daughters.

Hon Pamela Rose Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax 1931-2019

_. The Hon Pamela Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax, who died at Poole, Dorset, 22 February, 2019, aged 87, was a scion of the Barons Weeks (Ext), and mother of the Conservative MP, Richard Drax.

She was born Pamela Rose Weeks, 9 November, 1931, a daughter of the 1st (and last) Baron Weeks (1890-1960), by his second wife the former Cynthia Mary Irvine.

She married 6 April, 1957, Henry Walter Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax (1928-2017), scion of the Barons Dunsany, by whom she had issue, five sons, Richard, Jeremy, Charles, Mark & Edward.

Her eldest son, Richard Drax, is the Conservative MP for South Dorset.

The Hon Jane Elizabeth Buxton, who died 21 February, 2019, aged 93, was a scion of the Barons Noel-Buxton; born 22 May, 1925, second daughter of the 1st Baron Noel-Buxton (1869-1948), by his wife the former Lucy Edith Burn (died 1960), daughter of Maj Henry Pelham Burn; unmarried, but mother of a daughter, Rachel Susan, born 1967; she discontinued use of the surname Noel in 1957.

Lady Perring 1940-2019, wife of Sir John Perring, Bt

_.Lady Perring, who died 19 February, 2019, aged 78, was the wife of Sir John Perring, 2nd Baronet.

She was born Ella Christine Pelham, in 1940, a scion of the Earls of Chichester, daughter of Major Anthony George Pelham (1911-69), by his Swedish-born wife the former Ann Margaret Bergengren, She married 21 July, 1961, John Raymond Perring (born 1931), by whom she had issue. Her father-in-law, Ralph Perring served as Lord Mayor of London, 1962-3, after which period he was created a baronet.

 A Service of Thanksgiving for Lady Perring's life will be held 1 May, 2019, at St Mary’s Parish Church, Wimbledon, followed by tea at the Royal Wimbledon Golf Club.

Sir Julian Younger, 4th Baronet 1950-2019

_. Sir Julian Younger, 4th Baronet, died 18 February, 2019. He was 69.

Julian William Richard Younger was born 10 February, 1950, son of Maj-Gen Sir John Younger, 3rd Baronet, CBE (1920-2002), by his wife the former Stella Janet Lister, daughter of Rev Canon John George Lister; succeeded to the baronetcy (cr 1911), on the death of his father, 14 May, 2002.

He married firstly, 1981 (div 2002) Deborah Ann Wood; married secondly, 2006, Anthea Jane Stainton (b 1949), daughter of Sir Anthony Stainton, KCB, QC.

He is succeeded by a son from his first marriage, Andrew William Younger Thieriot, who was born in 1986.

Florence Rose Spencer-Churchill (born 2019)

_. Scarlett Spencer-Churchill (nee Strutt, born 1985), wife of Alexander David Spencer Churchill (born 1983), scion of the Dukes of Marlborough (Peerage of England cr 1702), gave birth to a daughter, Florence Rose, 18 February, 2019, a sister for Jake Charles Winston, who was born 8 December, 2017.

Alexander Spencer-Churchill is the third son of the late Lord Charles George William Colin Spencer Churchill (1940-2016), of London, by his 2nd wife the former (Elizabeth) Jane Wyndham (b 1948), scion of the Barons Egremont & Leconfield.

Scarlett Spencer-Churchill is a scion of the Barons Belper (Peerage of the UK, cr 1856), daughter of Henry Clavering Tollemache Strutt (b 1953), of Stutton, Suffolk, and Mrs Athena Strutt, also of Stutton.

Hon Mrs Philippa Ann Morrison [nee Hives] 1928-2019

The Hon Mrs Philippa Morrison, who died 16 February, 2019, was a scion of the Barons Hives; born in 1928, third daughter of the 1st Baron Hives, CH, MBE [1886-1965], by his wife the former Gertrude Ethel Warwick [died 1961]; married July 1978, His Honour Judge Alexander John Henderson Morrison [who d. 2012], of Littleover, co Derby.No issue.

The funeral service took place at Markeaton Crematorium, 11 March, 2019.

The Baroness Falkender, CBE 1932-2019

_. The Baroness Falkender, who died 6 February, 2019, aged 86, was Private and Political Secretary to the Rt Hon Harold Wilson, MP, 1956-83 (at 10 Downing Street 1964-70 and 1974-76); she was born 10 March 1932 as Marcia Matilda Field, daughter of Harry Field (1902-72) by his wife the former Dorothy Matilda Falkender Cowley (1902-78); she married 1955 (div 1960) George Edmund Charles Williams.

She was appointed CBE in 1970.

Marcia Williams, as she then was, changed her surname by deed poll to Falkender in 1974, in which year she was created a life peer as Baroness Falkender, of West Haddon, in Northamptonshire.

Lady Falkender had two sons from a relationship with Walter Terry, sometime political editor of the Daily Mail.

The 6th Earl of Normanton 1945-2019

_. The 6th Earl of Normanton died 13 February, 2019. Lord Normanton, of Somerley, near Ringwood, Hampshire, was the sixth holder of the Irish peerage created in 1806. He was also Viscount Somerton, in the peerage of Ireland, Baron Mendip[ in the peerage of Gt Britain, Baron Somerton in the Irish peerage, and Baron Somerton in the peerage of the UK. He was 73.

Shaun James Christian Werlbore Ellis Agar was born 21 August, 1945, son of the 5th Earl of Normanton (1910-67), by his wife the former Lady Fiona Pratt (died 1985), daughter of the 4th Marquess Camden, by his wife Lady Joan Nevill, daughter of the 3rd Marquess of Abergavenny.

He succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 28 January, 1967.

He married firstly, 29 Apr 1970 (div 2000) Victoria Susan Beard (now Mrs Timothy Chadwick); married secondly, Rosalind Bernice Nott (who died 2011). He announced his engagement in 2016 to Mrs Diana de Uphaugh.

Lord Normanton leaves a son and two daughters from his first marriage. The son, James Shaun Christian Welbore Ellis Agar, styled Viscount Somerton (born 7 Sept, 1982), succeeds to the peerages. He is married to Lady Lucy Alexander, daughter of Earl Alexander of Tunis.

_. Evelyn, Lady Roche, who died in Portugal, 14 February, 2019, aged 99, was the widow of Sir Standish Roche, 4th Baronet.

She was the former Evelyn Laura Andon, born circa 1919, daughter of Major William Andon, of Jersey, the Channel Islands; married 9 February, 1946, Sir Standish O'Grady Roche, 4th Baronet (1911-77), who had succeeded his father, also Sir Standish, in 1914; in World War II she served as an officer, WRNS; she was mother of two sons, David and Timothy.

Her husband died 2 April, 1977, aged 66. Her elder son is Sir David Roche, 5th Baronet.

_. The Lady Janet Shipton, who died 13 February, 2019, aged 95, was the eldest of the four children of the 1st Earl Attlee, KG, PC, the former prime minister.

Janet Helen Attlee was born 25 February, 1923, daughter of Clement Attlee [1883-1967], by his wife the former Violet Helen Millar [1895-1964]; married 15 Nov, 1947, Professor Harold William Shipton [1920-2007], by whom she had a daughter, who predeceased her.

Janet Shipton was a US citizen from 1973. Her father was prime minister 1945-1951.

_. Kathryn Anne (Katalina) Hicks (nee Sharkey, born 31 Dec, 1981) estranged second wife of Ashley Louis David Hicks (born 18 July, 1963) scion of the Earls Mountbatten of Burma, gave birth to a second son, Horatio Valentine Christopher Alessandro, 12 February, 2019, a brother for Caspian.

Ashley Hicks, a grandson of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, is a godson of the Duke of Edinburgh. He is a son of the late David Hicks by his wife the former Lady Pamela Mountbatten (born 1929).

The Baroness Carver 1923-2019


_. The Baroness Carver, who died 11 February, 2019, aged 95, was the widow of Field Marshal The Baron Carver, GCB, CBE, DSO, MC (1915-2001).

She was the former Edith Lowry-Corry, born in 1923, scion of the Earls of Belmore, daughter of Lt-Col Sir Henry Charles Lowry-Corry, MC (1887-1973), by his wife the former Betty Alice Adeline Proby (died 1978), descended from the Dukes of Abercorn. She married Michael Carver in 1947. He served as Chief of the General Staff (professional head of the British Army) 1971-73, and Chief of the Defence Staff, 1973-76. He was appointed a Field Marshal in 1973, & created a life peer in 1977. He died 9 Dec, 2001.

She leaves issue, Susanna, Andrew, Alice and John.

A Service of Thanksgiving takes place at St. Andrew’s Church, Meonstoke, Hampshire, 1 March. 2019.

He adopted 2 daughters.

_. Caroline, Countess of Lonsdale, who died 8 February, 2019, aged 75, was the widow of the 7th Earl of Lonsdale.

She was born Caroline Sheila Ley, 10 May, 1943, scion of the Ley baronets, daughter of Sir Gerald Ley, 3rd Baronet (1902-80) by his wife the former Rosemary Catherine Macpherson (1905-77), descended from the Capell Brooke baronets; married 1975, as his fourth and final wife, the 7th Earl of Lonsdale (1922-2006), by whom she had two children, a son and a daughter.

Geoffrey Charles Martineau Lupton (d 2019)

_. Geoffrey Charles Martineau Lupton, late the Hong Kong Government service, who died 30 January, 2019, aged  88, was a kinsman of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

He was a son of Hugh Ralph Lupton (1893-1983), of Dunmow, Essex, by his wife the former Marjorie Edith Joyce Ransome (1892-1970), sister of the writer Arthur Ransome.

He married Colina MacDougall, daughter of Sir Railbeart MacDougall, KCMG, CIE (1892-1949), of the Indian Civil Service, by whom he had issue, two sons Martin & David. The younger son, Dr David Lupton, married in 1999, Rosamund Orde-Powlett, a granddaughter of the 6th Baron Bolton.

The funeral takes place 18 February, 2019, at St Mary Magdalene Church, Richmond, Surrey.

_. Laura Sunniva Lamb (nee Ward, born 1984), wife of Joshua Thomas Richard Lamb (born 1983), gave birth to twins, Caspar Alexander John and Georgie Thomas Richard, 7 February, 2019, brothers for Fergus Martin Maxwell (b 2013), and Matilda Hersey (born 2016).

Josh Lamb is the son of Martin A.B. Lamb, of Stockleigh English, Devon, by his wife the former Elizabeth C. Martineau.

Laura Lamb is a daughter of Maxwell Bernard Colin Ward (b 1949), scion of the viscounts Bangor, and Lady Sarah Marsham (b 1954), sister of the 8th Earl of Romney.

Felix Amager Naylor-Leyland (born 2019)

_.Alice Naylor-Leyland (nee Dawson) wife of Thomas Philip (Tom) Naylor-Leyland (born 1982) scion of the Naylor-Leyland baronets, gave birth to a son, Felix Amager, 24 January, 2019, a brother for William (b 2012) and for Nancy (b 2015).

Thomas  is the son and heir of Sir Philip Vyvian NAYLOR-LEYLAND 4th Bt (b 1953) and Lady Isabella LAMBTON (b 1956, gd of 5th Earl of DURHAM (1884-1970)). 

Tom wed in 2011 Alice Moffat Amager d of Paul DAWSON of Cologny, Geneva.

Sir Peter Hutchison, 2nd Baronet (d 2019)

_.Sir Peter Hutchison, 2nd Baronet, died 20 January, 2019. He was 83. Sir Peter was a botanist, plant hunter and environmentalist, for which he was awarded a CBE.

Succeeded by his only son, James, who was born in 1967.

Funeral to be held on Friday 15th February at 11 a.m. in Kippen Parish Church to which all friends are invited.

The Baroness Weinstock (1920-2019)

_The Baroness Weinstock, who died 29 January, 2019, aged 98, was the widow of the life peer the Baron Weinstock.

Her husband was the British industrialist and businessman famed for building the General Electric Company, one of the nation’s most successful businesses.

She was born in 1920, a daughter of Sir Michael Sobell (1892-1993), by his wife the former Anne Rakusen (who died 1987).  Sir Michael was a businessman and philanthropist and a noted breeder of thoroughbred racehorses.

She married in 1949, Arnold Weinstock (1924-2002), who was created a life Baron in 1980.

Lady Weinstock had two children, the Hon Simon Weinstock (1952-96), who married Laura Legh, a scion of the Barons Newton; and Dr the Hon Susan Lacroix (b 1955).

Her husband died 24 July, 2002.

_. The Dowager Countess of Wemyss and March, who died 4 February, 2019, was the widow of the 10th Earl (1912-2008).

She was the former Shelagh Kathleen Thift, daughter of Ernest Thift, of Vancouver, Canada, and as Mrs Shelagh Kennedy she married 29 April, 1995, the widower the 10th Earl of Wemyss and the 8th Earl of March, KT.

She was widowed 12 December, 2008.

 Funeral at 12 noon on February 27th in Aberlady Parish Church.
