Beatrix Catherine Daly

Georgina M. Daly (née Eyre, b 1 Jan 1977), wife of Captain A. Crispin Daly, Scots Guards, gave birth to a dau, Beatrix Catherine, 14 May, 2009. Capt Daly is a son of Lieutenant-Commander and Mrs John Daly (BLG?) of Alverstoke, Hampshire, & Georgina is a daughter of Major John Vickers Eyre (b. 1936), late the RHA and the King's Hussars, of Tytherington, Gloucestershire, by his wife, the former Sarah Margaret Aline Heywood, dau of Maj. Froggatt/Langlands engagement

Jean Patricia Ralli

_.Jean Patricia Ralli, who died 22nd May 2009, aged 88, was the second wife of Lucas John Ralli (b 1920), scion of the Ralli B aronets (cr 1912). She was the former Jean Patricia Bennett, dau of Capt Edward Morden Bennett, RN, of Wolferton Manor, Charminster, Dorset, and married (i) ____Barrett. She married Lucas Ralli in 1989 as his 2nd wife. Funeral Service at Reading Crematorium (RG4 5LP) on Tuesday 2nd June.


Clare Vyvyan dies aged 103

(Mary) Clare Frances Vyvyan died 25 May, 2009 aged 103. She was b circa 1905, dau of John Leeming, of Chalfont St Peter, Bucks, and married in 1934, Lester Trefusis Vyvyan (1905-1952), scion of the Vyvyan Baronets (cr 1645), and was mother of Anthony Beville Vyvyan (b 1935). _Requiem Mass at St Edwards RC Church, Mawnan Smith, Falmouth, Cornwall, Thursday 4th June.

The Lady Olivia Elsie June Waldron (nee Taylour), aunt of the Marquess of Headfort, died 24 May 2009 at Cape Town. She was born in 1929, daughter of the 5th Marquess of Headfort (1902-60), by his wife the former Elsie Florence Tucker (d 1972), and was sister of the late 6th Marquess of Headfort; married 1955, Victor Echevarri Waldron (d 20 Nov 2002), by whom she had issue, Sally, Gina, Carola and William.

Alan Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk (1954-2009)

Alan Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk, BA Hons, PhD, of Oswestry, Shropshire, descendant of Charles II and Nell Gwynn, died 15 May, 2009, aged 55. He was b 1954, son of (Amelius) Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk (b 1924), of Oswestry, Shropshire, by his wife the former (Sydney) Frances Thomas, dau. of D. C. F. Thomas; and brother of Eleanor Frances de Vere Beauclerk, b 1950.

Alan was a great-great-grandson of Charles de Vere Beauclerk (1836-82), who was a natural son of Admiral Lord Amelius Beauclerk, GCB, GCH (1771-1846), of Winchfield House, Hampshire, scion of the Dukes of St Albans.


Cosmo Alexander Gibson-Watt

Alexandra Gibson-Watt [nee Steele] wife of Edward Gibson-Watt, gave birth to a son, Cosmo Alexander, 8 May, 2009, a brother for Mathilda (Tilly) who was b 19 Mar 1999, and for Olivia Diana, b 24 Nov, 2000, and for Christabel Paula, b 30 Jan 2003.


Lady Gage, diplomat's widow, dies

Lady Gage, who died 14 May, 2009, was the 2nd wife, and widow, of Sir Berkeley Everard Foley Gage, KCMG (1904-94), the diplomat, and scion of the Viscounts Gage. The former Lillian Riggs Miller (nee Vukmirovic), she married Sir Berkeley in 1954. Clarissa Astor (nee Berning), wife since 2000 of Thomas Ludovic David Astor (b 24 Jul 1972), scion of the Viscounts Astor, gave birth to a son, Vincent David, 6 May, 2009, a brother for Eva Daisy, b 26 May 2001, and for Freddie. Tom Astor is a son of David Waldorf Astor (b 9 August 1943), by his wife the former Clare Pamela St. John.

Julia Margery Morison Canning, daughter-in-law of Lord Garvagh

Julia Margery Morison Canning, who died 6 May, 2009, at Little Bedwyn, Marlborough, Wilts, was the wife of the Hon Spencer George Stratford De Redcliffe Canning (b 12 Feb 1953), son and heir of the 5th Baron Garvagh. She was the former Julia Margery Morison Bye, 1st dau of Col. Francis Clifford Edward Bye, of Twickenham, Middx, and married Mr Canning 14 Jul 1979. She leaves issue, a son, Stratford George Edward de Redcliffe Canning (b. 7 Feb 1990), and 2 daus, Cordelia Louise Morrison Canning (b. 1985), and Florence Canning (b. 1988).

Funeral to take place at St. Michael's Church, Little Bedwyn, Wiltshire at.— 20th May, 2009.


Jonathan Edward Fenwicke-Clennell (c1947-2009)

_.Jonathan Edward (Jonnie) Fenwicke-Clennell, of Raughton Head, Cumbria, who died 9 May, 2009, aged 61, was a scion of the Fenwicke- Clennell LG family, of Eland Hall, Ponteland, Northumberland.

He was husband of Amanda and father of Christian, Ed and Tom, & grandfather of Georgia, Olivia and Jamie. Beloved son of Veronica and the late John Fenwicke-Clennell. Funeral Service at All Saints Church, Raughton Head, Carlisle on Friday 15th May 2009.


David Heaton-Ellis (c1969-2009)

David P. Heaton-Ellis, who died 10 May, 2009, aged 39, from Motor Neurone Disease, was a scion of the LG family of Heaton-Ellis, of Wyddiall Hall, was b circa 1969, yst son of Lt-Col Peter Richard Heaton-Ellis, OBE (b 31 Aug 1923), head of the LG family and the late Mrs Peter Heaton-Ellis (nee Prudence Elizabeth Woodbine Parish, scion of that LG family?), of Chittern, Wiltshire. David married Sophie O. Cook, youngest daughter of Mr Nicholas Cook and Mrs Josephine Cook, of Woodnewton, Northamptonshire, and was father of a son, Geordie.

David's eldest brother, Michael James Brabazon Heaton-Ellis, b 22 May 1958, died from motor neurone disease, aged 42.

Funeral at St Lawrence Church, Ecchinswell on Friday 22 May 2009.


Virginia Swinhoe-Standen (nee Gilmour) 1960-2009

_.Virginia Esdaile Louise Swinhoe-Standen (née Gilmour), died 9th May 2009, aged 49. She was b 1960, dau of John Gilmour, by his wife the former Gillian Mary Truell (b.1929), and was sister of Angus John Gilmour, b.1958 & David Richard Grey Gilmour, b.1962. Funeral at Easthampstead Park Crematorium on 14th May 2009.

Her maternal grandfather, Edmund Gray Stuart Truell (1878-1950); m.14 Aug 1912 Vere Frances de Merlie Bellingham Somerville (1890-1976). Edmund was a son of the Rev William Henry Augustus Truell (1843-1934), by his wife, the former Lady Cornelia Stuart (d 1933), scion of the Earls of Moray.


Lord Kennet dies aged 85

The 2nd Baron Kennet died 7 May, 2009. He was 85.

Wayland Hilton Young was born 2 Aug 1923, son of the 1st Baron Kennet, GBE, DSO, DSC, PC (1879-1960) by his wife, the scupltress Edith Agnes Kathleen (d 1947), dau of Rev Canon Lloyd Stewart Bruce (Bruce Baronets cr 1804), and widow of Capt Robert Falcon Scott, CVO, RN (Scott of the Antarctic); Lord Kennet's half brother was the naturalist, Sir Peter Scott; he was eductated at Stowe and Trinity Hall, Cambridge; Journalist; Parl Sec, Ministry of Housing & Local Govt 1966-70; Chairman, Advisory Cttee, Oil Pollution of the Sea 1970-74; and of the Council for the Protection of Rural England 1971-72; and of the International Parl Conf on the Environment, 1971-80; Member of the European Parliament 1978-79; Vice-Pres, Parliamentary & Scientific Cttee from 1989 to?; SDP Chief Whip in the House of Lords 1981-83; Spokesman on Foreign Affairs and Defence 1981-90; married 1948, Elizabeth Ann, dau of Capt Bryan Fullerton Adams, DSO, , by whom he had issue. The peerage (cr 1935) now devolves upon his Lordship's son, the Hon (William) Thoby Young, b 24 May 1957, who is married to the Hon Josephine Keyes, dau of the 2nd Baron Keyes, and has issue, inc a son, Archibald, b 7 Jun 1992.

Clive Webb-Carter is the 1st son of Major General Sir Evelyn John Webb- Carter, of Horcott House, Fairford, Gloucestershire, by his wife the former Hon Anne Celia Wigram (b 1945), and Pippa is a daughter of Mr and Mrs Martin Kidson-Trigg, of Friars Farm, Highworth, Wiltshire.

Clive Webb-Carter is a grandson maternally of the 2nd Baron Wigram.

Hewlett/Agar engagement

Lora Wilkinson (née Noel-Paton), wife of Anthony J.C. Wilkinson, & scion of the Barons Ferrier (extinct), gave birth to a son, Alec William Cooper, 25 April, 2009.

Anthony is a son of Mr & Mrs John Wilkinson, of Chedworth, Gloucestershire, & Lora is a dau of the Hon (Frederick) Ranald Noel- Paton (b 1938), of Abernethy, Perthshire, by his wife the former Patricia Stirling (dau of Gen Sir William Stirling, GCB). Lora Wilkinson is a granddaughter paternally of the Baron Ferrier (1900-4 June 1992), life peer.

3rd Viscount St Davids (1939-2009)

The 3rd Viscount St Davids died 26 April, 2009, aged 70. His viscountcy, cr 1918, was but one of a string of impressive peerages and a baronetcy, viz: 3rd Viscount St Davids, of Lydstep Haven in the County of Pembroke (United Kingdom, let. pat. 17 Jun 1918); 16th Baron Strange of Knokyn (England, writ sum. 29 Dec 1299); 24th Baron Hungerford (England, writ sum. 7 Jan 1425/6); 22nd Baron de Moleyns (England, writ sum. 13 Jan 1444/5); 3rd Baron St Davids, of Roch Castle in the County of Pembroke (United Kingdom, let. pat. 6 Jul 1908); 15th Baronet, styled "of Picton, co. Pembroke" (England, let. pat. 9 Nov 1621). He was born Colwyn Jestyn John Phillipps, 30 Jan 1939, son of the 2nd Viscount St Davids (b 19 Feb 1917; d 10 Jun 1991), by his wife the former Doreen Guinness Jowett (d 19 Oct 1956); and was educated at Sevenoaks School; late 2nd Lieutenant, Welsh Guards; Lord-in-Waiting (Government Whip) 1992-94; Deputy Speaker House of Lords 1995-99.

He married 1965, Augusta Victoria Correa Larrain, dau of Don Estantislao Correa Ugarte, of Santiago, Chile, by whom he had issue, two sons, (i) Hon Rhodri Colwyn Philipps (b. 16 Sep 1966), mar. 6 Sep 2003 Sarah Louise Colyn Butcher, only dau. of Dr Peter Butcher; & (ii) Hon Roland Augusto Jestyn Estantislao Philipps (b. 9 Apr 1970).

The elder son now succeeds to the peerages and the baronetcy.

His Funeral will be held in St Davids Cathedral on Wednesday 6 May.


Hester Zia Elizabeth Burnett of Leys

Lavinia Margaret Burnett of Leys (nee Cox), wife of Alexander James Amherst Burnett of Leys (b. 1973), gave birth to a dau, Hester Zia Elizabeth, 11 April, 2009, a sister for Amaryllis Susan Rohays, who was b 24 November, 2006, and for Thomas Henry Amherst, b 11 February, 2008.
Alexander is the elder son of Mr James Comyn Amherst Burnett of Leys (b. 1941), and Mrs Burnett of Leys, of House of Crathes, Kincardineshire, and Lavinia is the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs C.A.F. Cox, of Leochel Cushnie, Aberdeenshire.

Alexander's father was born James Comyn Amherst Cecil, son of the Hon Henry Kerr Auchmuty Cecil (1914-42), scion of the Barons Amherst of Hackney, who married in 1938, Elizabeth Rohays Mary (who d. in 1993 having married secondly, 1944, Capt Sir Cecil Boyd-Rochfort, KCVO), only daughter of Major-General Sir James Lauderdale Gilbert Burnett of Leys, 13th Baronet, CB, CMG, DSO.

Alexander's father was, in 1966, recognized in the surname of BURNETT of LEYS, by Lyon Court. He married in 1971, Fiona Mercedes, second daughter of Lt-Col Harold Pedro Joseph Phillips, FRGS (who d. 1980), by his wife Georgina (now Lady Kennard), daughter of Sir Harold Augustus Wernher, GCVO, TD, 3rd and last Baronet [1893-1973], of Luton Hoo, by his wife, the Lady Anastasia [Zia] Wernher, CBE, [nee de Torby], elder daughter of Grand Duke Mikhail of Russia [1861-1929], by his morganatic wife, Sophia Nikolaievna, Countess de Torby, elder dau of Prince Nikolaus Wilhelm of Nassau, by his morganatic wife Countess Natalia von Merenberg [nee Pushkin].

Alexander Burnett of Leys is a nephew of the Duchess of Abercorn and the Duchess of Westminster.


David John Noel MacLeod

David John Noel MacLeod died at Dunblane, 25 April, 2009, aged 69. He was b 12 September 1939, the son of Sir John MacLeod (d 1984) by his wife the former Rosemary Theodora Hamilton Wills (d 1994), scion of the Barons Dulverton (cr 1929; Baronetcy cr 1897). He married Wendy Joy Cookson in 1972, and is survived by her and by three daughters. Funeral at Perth Crematorium, 4th May 2009.


Eardley-Wilmot/Langton engagement

The engagement was announced 2 May 2009, between Benjamin John Eardley- Wilmot (b 24 Jan 1974), eldest son of Sir Michael John Assheton Eardley-Wilmot, 6th Baronet (b 13 Jan 1941) and his former wife Mrs Wendy Wilmot (nee Wolstenholme), both of London, and Clementine D. Langton, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Langton, of London.


Maxime de la Falaise 1922-2009

Maxime de la Falaise (nee Birley), who died 30 April, 2009, aged 86, became famous in the 1950s for her contributions to the worlds of fashion and food; in her colourful private life, she was also something of a social maverick.

She was born Maxine Birley, 25 June, 1922, dau of society portrait painter Sir Oswald Hornby Joseph Birley, MC, RA (1880 –1952), by his wife the former Rhoda Vava Mary Lecky Pike (LG of Ireland), and was sister of Mark Oswald Hornby Lecky Birley (1930-2007). She married (i) Comte Alain de la Falaise, by whom she had a dau, the model Loulou de la Falaise, and a son Alexis de la Falais; she married (ii) John McKendry, curator of prints and photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.


Grace Joanna Beatrix Carrick-Buchanan

Kate Carrick-Buchanan [née Smith] wife of Angus Carrick-Buchanan, of the BLG family of Drumpellier & of Corsewall, near Stranraer, Scotland, gave birth to a daughter, Grace Joanna Beatrix, 7 April, 2009, a sister for Honor Aimee Ulla, who was b. 6 March, 2003, and for Alice Frances Grace, who was b 10 March, 2006.
