Lady Gage, diplomat's widow, dies

Lady Gage, who died 14 May, 2009, was the 2nd wife, and widow, of Sir Berkeley Everard Foley Gage, KCMG (1904-94), the diplomat, and scion of the Viscounts Gage. The former Lillian Riggs Miller (nee Vukmirovic), she married Sir Berkeley in 1954. Her husband was Third Secretary, Rome 1928-31; Private Secretary to Parliamentary Under- Secretary of State 1934; Second Secretary, Peking (later Nanking) 1935-38; First Secretary, Chungking 1941-44; Counsellor, The Hague 1947- 50; CMG 1949, KCMG 1955; Consul- General, Chicago 1950-54; Ambassador to Thailand 1954-57; Ambassador to Peru 1958-63; Chairman, Latin America Committee, British National Export Council 1964-66; Chairman, Anglo-Peruvian Society 1969-71.
