The Duchess of Montrose, wife of the 8th Duke

_. Her Grace the Duchess of Montrose, wife of the 8th Duke of Montrose, died 29 October, 2014.

She was the former Catherine Elizabeth MacDonnel Young, daughter of Capt Norman Andrew Thompson Young, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, of Ottawa, and married the then James Graham, Marquess of Montrose, in 1970.

Her husband succeeded his father as 8th Duke in 1992. The Dukedom in the Peerage of Scotland was created in 1707.

The Duchess is survived by her husband and by her sons, the Marquess of Montrose, and Lord Ronald Graham, and a daughter, Lady Hermione.

Funeral to be at Dryman Church on Wednesday 5 November, 2014, followed by family burial at Buchanan Chuchyard.

David Henry FitzRoy Somerset, who died 25 October, 2014, aged 84, was a scion of the Barons Raglan ( Baron, UK, cr 1852); & was Chief Cashier Bank of England, 1980-88, &c; was born 19 June, 1930, son of Brig the Hon Nigel FitzRoy Somerset DSO, MC (1893-1990), by his wife the former Phyllis Marion Offley (who died 1979), and was a grandson of the 3rd Baron Raglan (1857-1921); married 16 Apr, 1955, Ruth Ivy, dau of Wilfred Robert Wildbur, by whom he had issue,  a daughter, Louise and a son, Henry.

He was born 19 Sept, 1933, second son of Lt-Col Francis Gordon Ward Lane Fox (formerly Ward Jackson) (1899-1989), by his wife the Hon Marcia Agnes Mary Lane Fox (1904-80), eldest daughter of the 1st & last Baron Bingley; married 11 June, 1960, the Hon Janet Hamilton (b 8 Sept, 1936), only dau of the 3rd Baron Hamilton of Dalzell, MC, by (1911-90) whom he had issue.

(Walter) Raleigh Trevelyan 1923-2014

_. {Walter} Raleigh Trevelyan, who died 23 October, 2014, aged, 91, was a scion of the Trevelyan baronets (Bt, cr 1661); & was a prolific author and historian acclaimed for his wartime memoir The Fortress and his biography of Sir Walter Raleigh.

He was born 6 July, 1923, son of Walter Raleigh Fetherstonhaugh Trevelyan 1893-1953, by his wife the former Olive Beatrice Frost; he was Capt, The Rifle Brigade; served in World War II (despatches); author; editorial director, Michael Joseph Ltd, &c. Unm.

Hon Dorothy Anne Eustace 1926-2014

_. The Hon Dorothy Anne Eustace, who died 24 Oct, 2014, aged 88, was a younger daughter of the 1st (and last) Baron Percy of Newcastle 1887-1958 (ext 1958), by his wife the former Stella Katherine Drummond, and was a granddaughter of the 7th Duke of Northumberland, &c.

She was born in 1926, as Dorothy Anne Percy; married 1957, Maj Thomas Robert Hales Eustace, Royal Irish Fusilliers, by whom she had issue.

Hon John Alexander Ladi Thynn (born 2014)

_. Emma Thynn, styled Viscountess Weymouth (born 1986), wife of Ceawlin Thynn, styled Viscount Weymouth (b 6 June, 1974), scion of the Marquesses of Bath, gave birth to a son and heir, the Hon John Alexander Ladi Thynn, in London, 26 Oct, 2014.

Viscount Weymouth is the son and heir of the 6th Marquess of Bath (b 6 May, 1932), of Longleat, by his wife, the former Anna Gyarmathy

Viscountess Weymouth is the former Emma Clare A. McQuiston (b 1986), daughter of Ladi Jadesimi & Mrs Suzanna McQuiston (nee________).

The bride is a half-sister of Iain McQuiston, husband of Lord Weymouth's aunt, Lady Silvy Cerne Thynne.

_. Sir Edmund Vere Lacon, 8th Baronet (Bt, UK, cr 1818), died 17 October, 2014. He was 78.

He was born 3 May, 1936, son of Sir George Vere Francis Lacon, 7th Bt (1909-1980), by his 1st wife the former Hilary Blanche Scott; succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his father, 1980; married 7 Sept, 1963, Gillian, only dau of Jack Henry Middlemitch, by whom he had issue, a son Edmund Richard Vere, and a daughter, Anna Kathryn (b 1965).

His son, who was born 2 Oct, 1967, inherits the baronetcy.

David Herbert Samuel, 3rd Viscount Samuel, OBE 1922-2014

_ Prof The 3rd Viscount Samuel, OBE, died 7 October, 2014. He was 92.

David Herbert Samuel was born 8 Jul 1922, son of the 2nd Viscount (1898-1978), by his wife the former Hadassah Goor (d 1986), dau of Judah Goor, of Tel-Aviv, Israel, and succeeded his father, 14 Nov, 1978.

David Samuel was Professor of Physical Chemistry, Weizmann Institute of Science.

He was married four times ~ firstly, 5 May 1950  (div. 1957) Esther Berelowitz, 2nd dau. of Jacob Berelowitz, of Cape Town, South Africa; married 2ndly, 14 Dec 1960 (div. 1979) Rinna Dafni (former wife of Reuben Dafni), dau. of Meir Grossman, of Herzliyah, Israel; married 3rdly; Jun 1980 (div. 1993) Veronika Grimm (former wife of Robert Grimm), dau. of Ernest Engelhardt, of Toronto, Canada; married 4thly, 8 Jul 1997 Eve Black, dau. of David Black, of San Francisco, California, USA.

Lord Samuel, Israel's only viscount, leaves two daughters, the. Hon Judith Samuel (b. 29 Jan 1951), from the first marriage, mar. 1987 Dr Daniel Daliot, of Tel Aviv, Israel, and has issue; and the  Hon Naomi Rachel Samuel (b. 27 May 1962), from the second marriage, who mar. 1992 Nir Wilf, of Haifa, Israel.

Dowager Viscountess Hanworth 1918-2014

_. (Isolda) Rosamond Pollock, Dowager Viscountess Hanworth, widow of the 2nd Viscount, died 13 October, 2014. She was 97.

She was born Isolda Rosamond Parker, 26 June, 1918 (?), scion of the Earls of Macclesfield (Peerage of GB, cr 1721), second daughter of Geoffrey Parker (1880-1954), by his wife the former Isolda Mabel Cecil Craufurd, dau of Sir Charles Craufurd, 4th Baronet; and married 27 Apr, 1940, David Bertram Pollock, 2nd Viscount Hanworth 1916-96 (Peerage of the UK, cr 1936); she served WW2 ad a Snr Cmdr, ATS; was widowed 31 Aug, 1996, etc.

Viscountess Hanworth leaves issue, a son and a daughter, and was predeceased by another son. Her only surv son, is the 3rd Viscount Hanworth (b  16 Feb, 1946).

The 11th Duke of Marlborough 1926-2014

. His Grace the Duke of Marlborough, 11th duke in the Peerage of England (cr 1702), died 16 October, 2014. He was 88.

John George Henry Vanderbilt (Sunny) Spencer-Churchill was born  13 Apr, 1926, elder son of the 10th Duke (1897-1972), by his wife the former Alexandra Mary Hilda Cadogan (1900-61), and succeeded to the Marlborough peerages and the Blenheim Palace estate, Oxfordshire, on his father's demise, 11 March, 1972.

The Duke of Marlborough was four times wed. His first marriage, 1951 (div 1960) was to Susan Mary Hornby (who died 2005). He married 2ndly, 1961 (div 1971), Athina Mary Onassis, former wife of Aristotle Onassis, and dau of Stavros Livanos; married 3rdly, 1972 (div 2008) Countess Dagmar Rosita Astri Libertas Douglas (b 1943); married 4thly, 2008, Mrs Lily Mahtani.

The duke is survived by his fourth wife and two children from the first marriage, Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill (b 1958), and Charles James, styled Marquess of Blandford (b 24 Nov, 1955), and by two children, Lord Edward (b 1974) and Lady Alexandra Spencer-Churchill (b 1977), from his third union.

The dukedom and numerous subsidiary peerages now devolve upon the duke's eldest surviving son, the Marquess of Blandford.

3rd Viscount Allenby 1931-2014

_.The Viscount Allenby, who died 3 October, 2014, aged 83, was 3rd Viscount (Peerage of the UK, cr 1919), who sat as a hereditary crossbench peer in the House of Lords.


Michael Jaffray Hynman Allenby was born 20 May, 1931, only son of the 2nd Viscount Allenby (1903-84), by his first wife the former Gertrude Mary Lethbridge Champneys (who d 1988), and succeeded his father in the family honours, 17 July, 1984.

Lord Allenby married 29 Jul 1965, Sara Margaret (b 1942) d of Lt-Col Peter Milner WIGGIN (1907-94), scion of the Bts of that name, and Margaret Frances LIVINGSTONE-LEARMOUTH (1914-99) scion of that gentry family formerly of Parkhall, and had issue, a son, the Hon Henry Jaffray Hynman ALLENBY (b 29 Jul 1968), who married, 1996 Louise Victoria d of Michael GREEN of Sands Farm, Faringdon, Oxforshire, and has issue, two sons. 

Service of Thanksgiving on 12th November, 2014, at All Saints Church, Odiham.

Lord Cottenham succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 20 Oct, 2000.

Mr Fortescue is the only son of the Hon Seymour Fortescue (b 1942), of Chelsea, by his 1st wife the former Julia Pilcher (now Mrs Benjimin Bonas, of Morecote, Switzerland), and Olivia is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Graham Rodgers, of Windsor.

Sir Nevil John Wilfrid Macready, CBE, 3rd Baronet 1921-2014

_. Sir Nevil John Wilfrid Macready, CBE, Bart, who died 27 September, 2014, aged 93, was the 3rd baronet, of Cheltenham, co Gloucester (Bt, UK, cr 1923).

He was born 7 Sept, 1921, son of Lieut-Gen Sir Gordon Nevil Macready, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO, MC, 2nd Baronet (1891-1956), by his wife Elisabeth (d 7 Dec, 1969), daughter of Maurice, 8th Duc de Noailles, of Paris, by his wife Yolande.

Succeeded to the baronetcy on his father's demise, 17 Oct, 1956; married 1949, Mary, daughter of Sir John Donald Balfour Fergusson, GCB, by whom he had issue, a son and three daughters. 

The son, Charles Nevil Macready (born 19 May, 1955), succeeds to the baronetcy.

Funeral at Holy Trinity Church, Crookham, Hampshire, Friday 10 Oct.

William Peter Chippendale Keswick (born 2014)

_.Clare J. Keswick (née Davidson), wife of  Adam Keswick (b. 1973), gave birth to a son, William Peter Chippendale, in Hong Kong, 27 Septrember, 2014, a brother for Eda, who was b 11 Feb, 2008, and twins Irene and Rose, who were born 4 March, 2010.

Adam is the third son of Sir (John) Chippendale Lindley (known as "Chips") Keswick, of London, descended from the extinct Barons Lindley, by his wife, the former Lady Sarah Ramsay (b. 1945), & Clare is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Peter Davidson, of Rickford, Somerset. 

Adam Keswick is a grandson maternally of the 16th Earl of Dalhousie, KT, GCVO, GBE (1914-1999).

Elizabeth Baroness Sudeley 1941-2014

_. Elizabeth Baroness Sudeley, who died 29 September, 2014, aged 72, was the first wife of the 7th Baron Sudeley (Peerage of the UK, cr 1838).

She was the former Hon Elizabeth Mairi Keppel, born 3 Nov, 1941, scion of the Earls of Albemarle (Peerage of England, cr 1696), elder daughter of Derek William Charles Keppel, styled Viscount Bury (1911-68), by his 1st wife the former Lady Mairi Elizabeth Vane-Tempest-Stewart, a dau of the 7th Marquess of Londonderry.

Her father was the eldest son of the 9th Earl of Albemarle (1882-1979).

She married 1stly, 1962, Alastair Michael Hyde Villiers (1937-2005), a scion of the Earls of Clarendon, by whom she had issue; married 2ndly, 1980 (div 1988), the 7th Baron Sudeley (born 17 June, 1939) (Peerage of the UK, cr 1838).

Lady Sudeley is survived by her children, Charles and Charlotte.

The funeral is at West London Crematorium, Monday 6 Oct.

William is the son of  Mr Oliver Fox-Pitt (1932-2012), by his wife Marietta, and is a brother of Miranda, who is married to Peregrine Moncreiffe, brother of the Earl of Erroll. 

Alice is a daughter of Mr and Mrs David Plunkett.

Deborah Fleury Bosville Macdonald of Sleat, who died 11 September, 2014, in Hammersmith, was a scion of the Bosville Macdonald baronets (Bt, NS, 1625, of Sleat, Isle of Skye); born in 1973, elder daughter of Sir Ian Godfrey Bosville Macdonald of Sleat, 17th Baronet, and 25th Chief of Sleat (b 1  8 Jul, 1947), by his wife the former Juliet Fleury Ward-Harrison.

She is survived by her parents and brother. Somerled, and sister Isabel.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held at St Mary Abbots Church, Kensington, Monday 27 October, 2014.

_. (Robert) Gerard Charles Noel, who died 23 September, 2014, was a scion of the Earls of Gainsborough (Earl, UK, cr 1841).

He was born in 1928, a son of Lt-Col Maurice Waldegrave Noel (1888-1958), by his wife the former Elisabeth Christine Edith Gairdner (d 1981). He married 1961 (div 1988) Gillian Margaret Halse, no issue. No issue.

The Rev 3rd Baron Wrenbury 1927-2014

_.The Rev. Lord Wrenbury, who died 27 September, 2014, aged 87, was the 3rd Baron (Peerage of the UK, cr 1915).

John Burton Buckley was born 18 June, 1927, son of the 2nd Baron Wrenbury (1890-1940), by his wife the former Helen Malise Graham (who died 1981); succeeded to the peerage on his father's death 74 years ago, 30 May, 1940.

He married 1stly, 1956 (div 1961), Carolyn Joan Maude Burn-Murdoch; married 2ndly, 1961, Penelope Sara Frances Fort, by whom he had issie, a son and two daughters. 

Lord Wrenbury was ordained in 1990.

The son, the Hon William Edward Buckley, born 19 June, 1966, succeeds as fourth baron.
