The engagement was announced 2 November, 2005, between Edward P. Lawson Johnston (b. 1979), scion of the Barons Luke (created 1929), twin son of the Hon. Philip Richard Lawson Johnston (b. 1950), by his wife the former Saskia Moyne Andrews, & Christabel Marie-Jeanne Brudenell-Bruce (b. 1981) scion of the Marquesses of Ailesbury, daughter of Andrew Robert Joel Brudenell-Bruce (b. 1951), by his wife, the former Sophie Inch.
Edward Lawson Johnston is a grandson of the late 2nd Baron Luke, KCVO.
