The engagement was announced 22 February, 2022, between Mr Ben Thorpe, son of Mr Alec Thorpe, of Whitworth, Lancashire, and Eleanor Constance Parker [born 1993], scion of that landed family, daughter of Robert Parker, of Browsholme Hall, by his wife, the former Amanda Backhouse.
Amanda Parker was High Sheriff of Lancashire in 2015. The family home, Browsholme Hall, in the Ribble Valley, is said to be the oldest surviving family home in Lancashire.The Parkers were established there before the 14th century.
