Commander Edward Thring, who died 6 February, 2022, aged 91, was descended from the FitzRoy Barons Southampton, and from the Merrie Monarch, Charles II. He was head of the Thring landed gentry family.
Edward Theodore Thring was born in 1930, son of Rear-Admiral George Arthur Thring, CB, DSO, DL [1903-2001], and his wife the former Betty Mary Blacker [1905-83]; and married in 1959, Elizabeth Corbin, by whom he had issue, a son, Christopher [b 1962], and two daughters, Georgina [b 1960], married to Francis Peter Edward Mander, scion of the Mander baronets, and Edwina [b 1967].
