_. David James Twiston Davies, who has died aged 75, was a scion of the Twiston Davies landed gentry family, and for many years an obituary writer and letters editor at the Daily Telegraph.
He was born 23 March, 1945, son of Mervyn Peter Twiston Davies [1920-2002], by his wife the former Isabel Anne Fox; married 1970, Margaret Anne [Rita] Montgomery [born 1945], daughter of Francis Gerard Montgomery [1911-1978], by his wife the former Honora McDonnell [1901-86], by whom he had issue.
