Helen Rose Sanford de Sales La Terrière (nee Hodgson), who died 4 March, 2026, aged 78, was the second wife and widow of Ian Cameron de Sales La Terrière (1930-2025), head of that landed gentry family, of Dunalastair.
(Helen) Rose Sanford Hodgson was born in 1947, daughter of Lieutenant-Commander Archibald Richard Sanford Hodgson, RN (1908-1990), scion of that landed gentry family, and his wife the former Helen Mary Ursula Pomeroy (1909-2000), scion of the Viscounts Harberton; and married in 1979, as his second wife, Ian Cameron de Sales La Terrière, son of Major James Fenwick de Sales La Terrière (1901-1969), and his wife the former Frances Natalie Barker-Hahlo (1899-1979), widow of the 5th Baron Ashtown, by whom she had issue, three sons, Rory (born and died 1980), Hugh William (born 1982), and Robert Duncan (born 1984).
She was widowed 13 March, 2025.
