He was born 5 June, 1947, in Dublin. Education: Bachelor in Modern History, University of Oxford, l969; Master of Arts, University of Oxford, 1970.
Career: 1st vice president White Weld & Company, 1969-1978. Senior advisor to Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, Merrill Lynch & Company Inc., 1978-1984. Managing director Phoenix Securities Ltd., London, 1984-1997. Vice chairman Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette International, 1997-2000, CSFB, 2000-2001. Chairman Hawkpoint Ltd., London, since 2001.
He married firstly, 22 April, 1972, Anne Clouët des Pesruches [died February, 1988], married 2ndly, 25 September, 1997, Mrs Clare M McMullen [nee Straker], former wife of Fergus McMullen, who survives him together with three daughters from his first marriage, Iona, Camilla and Serena, and a son, Nicholas, from his second marriage.
