_. The Hon Rose Paterson, who has died aged 63, was Chairman of Aintree Racecourse and a member of the Jockey Club's main Board of Stewards. She was a scion of the Viscounts Ridley, and wife of Owen Paterson, the Conservative MP for North Shropshire.
She was born 13 August, 1956, the second daughter of the 4th Viscount Ridley, KG, GCVO [1925-2012], of Blagdon, Seaton Burn, Northumberland, by his wife the former Lady Anne Katherine Lumley [1928-2006], daughter of the 11th Earl of Scarbrough, KG, GCSI, GCIE, GCVO, PC [1896-1969].
She married 26 January, 1980, the Rt Hon Owen William Paterson [born 24 June, 1956], of Shelbrook Hull, Ellesmere, co Shropshire, son of Alfred Paterson, of Tarporley, Cheshire, by whom she had issue, two sons and a daughter.
Her husband, Tory MP for North Shropshire since 1997, was Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, 2012-14.
