Lady Buchanan 1936-2024, wife of Sir Andrew Buchanan, Bt

 Lady Buchanan, who died 3 September, 2024, aged 88, was the wife of Sir Andrew Buchanan, KCVO, 5th Baronet.

She was born in 1936, as Belinda Jane Virginia Maclean, daughter of Donald Colquhoun Maclean (1898-1967), and his wife the former Cecilia Valerie Cooper (1910-1998); and married firstly, Commander Gresham Neilus Vaughan, RN (1934-1964), son of Malcolm Septimus Vaughan (1903-1967), and his wife the former Judith Elyn Gresham (1905-94), descended from the Leveson-Gower Earls Gower; and married 2ndly, 26 April, 1966, Andrew George Buchanan (born 21 July, 1937), son and heir of Major Sir Charles Buchanan, 4th Baronet (1899-1984), and his wife the former Barbara Helen Stanley (1906-1986), scion of the Earls of Derby.

Her husband served as High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire 1976-77; and appointed a deputy lieutenant for Nottinghamshire in 1985. Between 1991 and 2012, he was Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire  and was appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the 2011, in the New Year Honours for his service in that office. Buchanan succeeded his father in the baronetcy, 25 May, 1984.

Lady Buchanan leaves a son from her first marriage, Andrew Gresham Vaughan (born 1963), and a son, George Buchanan (born 27 Jan, 1975), and daughter, Laura (born 13 Jan, 1967), from her marriage to Sir Andrew.
