Katherine Sonia, Baroness ffrench, who died 27 August, 2024, aged 97, was the widow of the 7th Baron ffrench.
She was born Katherine Sonia Cayley, 2 December, 1926, scion of the Cayley baronets, the middle daughter of Major Digby Coddington Cayley (1895-1965), and his wife the former Beatrice Elizabeth Eleanora Campbell-Renton (1903-1996), scion of that Scottish landed gentry family; & married 5 August, 1954, Peter Martin Joseph Charles John ffrench (born 2 May, 1926), son of the Hon John Martin Valentine Joseph ffrench (1872-1946), and his wife the former Sophia Brambila, youngest daughter of Giovanni Brambila, of Villa Sucota, Como, Italy. Her husband, a grandson of the 5th Baron ffrench (1813-93), succeeded to the peerage (cr Ireland, 1798, and baronetcy cr 1779), on the death of his uncle, the 6th Baron, 4 March, 1955. The 7th Baron died 30 January, 1986.
Baroness ffrench eaves issue, a son, Robuck John Peter Charles Mario, the 8th Baron ffrench (born 14 March, 1956), and two daughters, the Hon Rose Soia Iris Mary (born 27 Jan, 1957), and the Hon Clare Katherine Grace Mary (born 18 July, 1958).
