Malcolm Ralph Cochrane, MBE, DL 1938-2024

Malcolm Ralph Cochrane, MBE, DL, who died 24 July, 2024, aged 85, was a scion of the Barons Cochrane of Cults.

He was born 8 August, 1938, the second son of Air Chief Marshal the Hon Sir Ralph Alexander Cochrane, GBE, KCB, AFC (1895-1977),  perhaps best known for his role in Operation Chastise, the famous "Dambusters" raid, by his wife the former Hilda Frances Holme Wiggin (1901-1982); and married 5 August, 1972, Mary Anne Scrope (born 22 October, 1945), scion of that landed gentry family, daughter of Ralph Henry Scrope (1905-1981), and his wife the Lady Beatrice Savile (1910-1973), daughter of the 6th Earl of Mexborough (1868-1945), byh whom he had issue, a son, William Ralph (born 1974), and two daughters, Alice (born 1976), and Harriet (born 1979).
