The 7th Earl Grey (Peerage of the UK, cr 1806), died 5 November, 2023. He was 83.
Philip Kent Grey was born 11 May, 1940, the second son of Albert Henry George Campbell Grey (1912-1942), and his wife the former Vera Helen Louise Harding (who died 16 Nov, 1964).
He was descended from Charles, 2nd Earl Grey, KG, PC (1764-1845), who was First Lord of the Treasury (Prime Minister) 1830-1834.
On 2 Apr, 1963, his elder brother, Richard (born 5 March, 1939), succeeded their second cousin as the 6th Earl Grey, and he died childless, 10 September, 2013, when Philip succeeded as 7th Earl Grey (Peerage of the UK, cr 1806), Viscount Howick (Peerage of the UK, cr 1806), the Barony of Grey of Howick (Peerage of the UK, cr 1801), and the Baronetcy "of Howick" (cr GB, 1746).
The 7th Earl married 23 March, 1968, Ann Catherine Applegate, second daughter of Cecil Applegate, of South Milton, co Devon, by whom he had a son, Alexander Edward Grey, styled Viscount Howick (born 20 Dec, 1968), and a daughter, Lady Vanessa Catherine Grey (born 1975).
His only son succeeds to the three peerages and baronetcy.
