Sir (David) Watkin Williams-Wynn, 11th Baronet 1940-2023

 Sir (David) Watkin Williams-Wynn, 11th Baronet, DL, died 18 November, 2023. He was 83.

Sir Watkin, Old Etonian army officer, was a former deputy lieutenant and High Sheriff of Clwyd. He served as a Lieutenant, Royal Dragoons 1958-63; , a Major Queen's Own Yeomanry 1970-77; DL (1970), and High Sheriff (1990). 

He was born 18 February, 1940, son of Lieutenant-Col Sir Owen Watkin Williams-Wynn, 10th Baronet, CBE (1904-1988), and his wife the former Margaret Jean Macbean (who died 1961), & he succeeded to the baronetcy (cr 1688, of Gray's Inn), on his father's death, 1988.

He was twice wed, firstly, 26 Oct, 1968 (div.1981), Harriet Veryan Elspeth Tailyour, daughter of General Sir Norman Tailyour, KCB, DSO (1914-1979), & his first wife the former Priscilla June Southby (1916-1971); and married 2ndly, 26 September, 1983 (div 1998), as her second husband, Mrs Victoria Jane Dillon, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Ian Dudley De'ath, DSO, MBE (1918-1960).

From his first marriage he leaves issue, two sons, Charles (born 1970),  and Robert (born 1977), and twin daughters, Alexandra and Lucinda (born 1972), and from his second marriage, he leaves two twin sons, Nicholas and Harry (born 1988). The eldest son, Charles Edward Watkin (born 16 September, 1970), now succeeds as 12th baronet.
