David Cameron’s peerage gazetted

  The life barony awarded to David Cameron, the foreign secretary, has been gazetted in the name, style and title of Baron Cameron of Chipping Norton, of Chipping Norton in the County of Oxfordshire.

 The Rt Hon David William Donald Cameron (born 9 October, 1966), PC, former prime minister, a descendant of King Willian IV and Mrs Jordan, will join the cabinet from the House of Lords with a life peerage.

A scion of the Scots landed family of the name Cameron, he is a grandson maternally of Sir William Mount, 2nd Baronet (1904-93).

Cameron married 1 June, 1996, Samantha Gwendoline Sheffield (born 18 Apr, 1971), scion of the Sheffield baronets, daughter of Sir Reginald Sheffield, 8th Baronet (born 9 May, 1946), by his wife the former Annabel Jones (born 14 Aug, 1948) (later Viscountess Astor).

He previously served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016 and as Leader of the Conservative Party from 2005 to 2016. He served as Leader of the Opposition from 2005 to 2010, and was Member of Parliament (MP) for Witney from 2001 to 2016.
