Capt Geoffrey Neil van Cutsem, late the Royal Horse Guards, scion of that landed gentry family, died 30 December, 2022. He was 78.
He was born 23 November, 1944, the second son of Bernard Henry Richard van Cutsem (1916-75), of Exning, Suffolk, and his 1st wife, and as her first husband, the former Mary Compton (1919-89), scion of the Marquesses of Northampton.
He married firstly, 30 Oct, 1969 (div 2003), Sarah (Sally) McCorquodale (1948-2008), scion of that landed gentry family, daughter of Alastair McCorquodale (1925-2009), of Stoke Rochford, near Grantham, by his wife the former Rosemary Sybil Turnor (1924-2015), scion of that landed family. Sarah McCoruodale's brother, Neil married in 1980, Lady Sarah Spencer, sister of Diana, Princess of Wales. Geoffrey van Cutsem married 2ndly, 2006, Mrs Lucy Hester Price (nee Cartwright) (she died 29 Nov, 2008). In 2012 he married, as his third spouse, Mrs Elizabeth Georgina Gail Jewson (born 19 Oct, 1952), scion of the Earls of Clarendon, former wife of Edward Rivers R. Jewson (b 1953), and daughter of William Nicholas Somers Laurence Hyde Villiers (1916-2000), and his wife the former Mary Cecilia Georgina Weld-Forester (1917-2002), scion of the Barons Forester.
Georffrey van Cutsem, of Old Somerby, Grantham, leaves two daughters from his first marriage, Sophie (born 5 Aug, 1975), and Zara (born 11 December, 1978), wife of Henry Robert Anthony Noel, by courtesy Viscount Campden, DL (born 1 July, 1977), son and heir of the 6th Earl of Gainsborough.
