The Lady Anne Sophia Berry, who has died in Gisborne, New Zealand, aged 99, was a scion of the extinct Earls of Orford; born in 1919, as Lady Anne Sophia Walpole, daughter of the 5th Earl of Orford [1854-1931], by his second wife the former Emily Gladys Oakes [1891-1988]; married firstly, 1939, Col. Joseph Eric Palmer, CBE, TD, DL [1903-80]; married secondly, 1990, Robert James Berry.
She leaves two sons from her first marriage, John [born 1943], and Anthony [born 1945].
