Philippa Viscountess Astor, who died 20 July, 2005, after a short illness, was the secnd of the three wives of the 3rd Viscount Astor [1907-66], of Cliveden, a peer embroiled in the Profumo Affair, 1963.
Philippa Victoria Hunloke was born at 2 Carlton Gardens, St. James's, London, 10 December, 1930 the eldest child & only daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Philip Hunloke [a descendant of King William IV & Mrs Jordan]. Hunloke's wife was Lady Anne Cavendish, daughter of the 9th Duke of Devonshire.
Philippa, who for 5 years previous to her nuptials, was working in theatrical stage management in reperory in London's West End, married at St. Columba's (Church of Scotland), Belgravia, London, 26 April, 1955 (divorced London 1960, Decree Nisi London 3 June, 1960), William Waldorf Astor, 3rd Viscount Astor,[b. Cliveden, Taplow, Buckinghamshire 13 Aug, 1907; d. Nassau, Bahamas 8 Mar, 1966, [son of the 2nd Viscount and of Nancy Viscountess Astor]
They had 1 child Hon. Emily Astor, born 1956; by her second husband James Anderson (grandson of James, 16th Earl of Perth) she has 2 sons & 2 daughters.
